In progress - Loomio help documentation reboot

Robert Guthrie PublicSeen by 54

We've had a long standing problem with our help documentation and I've committed myself to fixing it.

In the past we had loomio.school and help.loomio.org and some docs sitting in the loomio/loomio git repo under /docs. I've merged all these resouces together into a loomio_help repo.

You can see the current state of it here: https://loomio.github.io/loomio_help

And the plan to get us to a release and replace the various existing stuff is here: https://loomio.github.io/loomio_help/plan

As I see it, the next major step before more contributions can happen is introducing an i18n framework and finalising the structure of the content. I see those two steps has happening over the next couple of weeks.

I'm putting this out here now just to see what interest there is in contributing the the help resources. I know @juliencarnot has shown interest before but we've not been able to support him, I see this as fixing those issues.

Hum, wish I had more time to help now, but the next few month are going to be hectic... Hope you can use the ideas for the outline and set up localization via transifex so that translators can help everybody out easily!

Robert Guthrie

I do indeed!

For help content like this, would you rather have a alternate copy of the page.. ie: group_settings.fr.md or would you rather have the strings in transifex?

Julien Carnot

From what I understand about Transifex, setting markdown sources will allow individual strings to be translated and the formatting to be maintained: https://docs.transifex.com/formats/markdown
If strings are kept in order, I think translating or updating a paragraph from time to time will be easier...
