Include an interactive calendar in the newsletter

Perhaps towards the end of the email, we could include a calendar of events, each one with a link to the Facebook event or eventbrite so people can sign up directly.

This is a good idea. Might take a bit of admin time to sort it out, but it would be worth it for the increased ease of access to events.

"Local Spotlight"

Highlight a person or group within the community and what they do. For example a prized gardener, local dj, philanthropy work done by someone in the community, an accomplishment or award someone has earned, a very good dog, etc. The criteria could be quite broad, but to regularly recognise and applaud those prized moments and people around us in the community.

Beautiful idea. Would inspire many to share the article + feel seen, heard and valued. That's a huge part of what belonging is, I think.

It might also be useful to have something like a 1-3min audio update on happenings to give the newsletter a more human touch :-)
