The idea of launching a Charter of the Global Commons is a very interesting one! The process of drafting it could be complicated, but if it was done, it might create a common document similar to the seven principles of the international cooperative movement, to which a huge number of cooperatives refer, helping give them a shared identity and a standard by which to measure their work. Perhaps those seven principles could serve us as a point of reference as well, regarding the level of generality or specificity they have chosen to use - with considerable success. Thanks, Wolfgang. I love the idea of a principle-based charter.
One way the charter process could be imagined is as a 2 -year campaign to crowdsource the charter at and between the first three Commons Days.
Commons Day 1: Sept 2015 Connect & gather with intention. Initiate the process to facilitate dialogues all over the world.
(Work online & offline over the year)
Commons Day 2: Sept 2016 Gather again, more dialogue, more process
(Work online & offline over the year)
Commons Day 3: Sept 2017 Launch the charter with a global party!
Begin the real world process of making the living charter come to life.
