Defining the Vote

NJJ Nijil Jamal Jones Public Seen by 8

We have to vote on who can vote again because the quorum was 2/3, and enough people didn't vote last time. Even though it was voted for unanimously.

  1. Specific tasks are delegated according to the business structure and the people doing the work can vote exclusively on their work, in accordance with the International Cooperative Principle of Autonomy and Independence. However, any worker-owner can call a vote on anything to override the decision of those who were delegated a task.

  2. In order to vote and be an eligible voter on any decision, the member must have attended one of the last two meetings or voted in one of the last two decisions. If one has not participated in the last two meetings, they are welcome to sit in the meeting but their vote will not be counted.

This rule makes it possible for us to know who needs to vote on how we spend our money. It sets clear parameters and boundaries for who the active Board members are that are eligible to vote with the Cooperative Finance Organization on our sales goals and spending decisions.

  1. Quorum (the number of eligible voters necessary to vote in order for the vote to count) is 50%. Half of the people that attended one of the last two meetings or voted on one of the last two decisions must be present or voting in order for the decision to count as a collective decision of Pecan Milk Cooperative. And we override any document or agreement that says otherwise.

Quorum works because in moments of rapid response most will be heard and trust should be extended
