Create a "Recruitment" Circle

RJ Ricky Jefferyes Public Seen by 43

I know that soon we will have Stephen tell us how we should be structured. I would still like to further evolve our current democratic structure and have it as something that we can fall back on should his hierarchy fail.

When I become Delegate for the PR circle, Oliver told me that it was my role to respond to “Volunteer Forms” that would be forwarded to me from the website. I don't see this as a role that should be associated with the PR Delegate or even the PR Circle. The PR Circle deals with Graphics, Media, Newsletter, Petitions, Social Media and Videos. The PR delegate already has a big role in keeping up to date with all of these circles and keeping the CS up to date on what is happening with them.

The roles of recruiting members, recruiting volunteers and helping volunteers find their place in an appropriate circle, I think should be the role of a new sub-group from CS called something like “Recruitment”

It should be the delegate of the Recruitment Circle that reports to the CS in CS meetings how many new members and volunteers we have; and perhaps give an introduction to new volunteers that have recently joined us.

“VOLUNTEER” FORMS AUTO SEND TO:
1st - Ricky Jefferyes
2nd - Oliver Minter

“PARTY MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION” FORMS TO AUTO SEND TO:
1st - Berge Sarkissian
2nd - Oliver Minter

As such, us three (Berge, Oliver and Ricky) will be the initial members of the Recruitment Circle with Berge and Oliver in the best positions to be Delegates. Though I will also be willing to be a Delegate.

When a member of the public contacts us through the website either through the CONTACT US section or the VOLUNTEER FOR US section - replying to them via email IS a PUBLIC RELATIONS job. I can't think of what other job it could possibly be.

@lbjoum And what makes you think that you have the right to block a proposal on the grounds that you disagree with it?

@olivermintersolvol If we don't have a Recruitment Circle I could see the roles fitting into either Public Relations or probably more suiting, Administration. Both circles already have enough to deal with. The purpose of creating sub-groups is to lessen the strain on other groups. This will be taking weight off either the PR or Admin and giving it to the Recruitment Circle.

Just saying that "we have too many groups" isn't even a valid argument. Why do you think we have too many groups? Having groups makes it easier for people within those groups to do what they have to do without being distracted by business of other groups.

On a side note, just want to mention that we're all here with the same goal, to improve Australian politics, this makes us allies not opponents.

Disagreement is a good thing, it's the mother of progress, we just need to remember that our when there is a disagreement it's not a personal attack but an opportunity to learn from another perspective. I believe everyone has the 'right' to say what they think. Let's remember this is a constructive conversation.

Anyway, if too many groups is an administrative issue, there are multiple ways we can fix this. Step one is probably the planning post @emmawardle suggested.

No one stating that there are too many groups have explained why they think that there are too many groups. Ihave taken the effort to expain why I think we need the extra group and it has nothing to do with our businiess plan.

The reason I feel it relates to the business plan, is that the point of the business plan is to list, record and manage all the things that we need to do to get
up and running, and recruitment is a part of that. Unless you are talking about handling the current registrations, and then it would probably need a bit more urgent attention.

It is about dealing with the registrations.

Yes, I know, Ricky. It is dealing with current registrations or future registrations? Or just all registrations?

Normally what happens is that when a member of the public has submitted a VOLUNTEER form - they tick the areas or subgroups that they want to be part of. Then all that info gets sent to the 1st Contact person - in this case Ricky - and then Ricky replies to them saying thankyou for your interest in our party - here is the link to the loomio groups/subject areas that you said you would like to be involved in.... then they join all the necccessary loomio groups... then its up to the delegate of each group to introduce them to the group/train them on how to use loomio/ hold a video confrence with them and hold a video conference with their own group - so that the whole group is organised and knows what to do... thats what ive been doing with the groups that i am a delegate for...
