Presentation by Camphill community to Community Land Trust Initiative

EO Emer O'Siochru Public Seen by 430

Dear all,

I promised to inform this group when the Camphill Community will make a presentation to us. Happily they have agreed to make a presentation to the CLTI on Wednesday March 1st. Camphills are the most successful and practically unknown ecovillage/intentional communities in Ireland. They were inspired by Rudolf Steiner, set up after WW11 and are based on a caring model.

The venue is as before, 8 Merrion Square ( RIAI HQ), time 12.30 2.00pm.

As it will be a lunch time meeting - bring your own food; the RIAI will provide the tea and coffee.

More info and agenda later. Be sure to tell me if you can come so we have an idea of numbers!.

Reminder and Agenda

Dear all,

The long awaited presentation by Camphill Communities is on Wednesday,1st March at 8 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 (RIAI HQ).

As I don't want to take any time from the Camphill event, I propose that we have a pre-meeting for updating and internal discussion.

Agenda

2) Discussion of the attached Draft Plan B: An outline of a land trust that is not an independent CLT but a local authority owned arms length entity taking on the role of a CLT.

3) Coffee and Tea; lunch for those who remembered to bring sandwiches

1.00pm

4) Presentation by Camphill Communites: Patrick, Mark and Rosie will present - 10 mins each

Nimble Spaces: Inclusive Neighbourhoods

Nimble Spaces is a collaborative initiative between Camphill Community, Callan, and Callan Workhouse Union, toward realising new cultures of inclusive housing. Beginning with an Enabling Design Process, the project has received Department of Environment funding to establish 16 single person homes for people with support needs in mixed neighbourhoods with cooperatively owned homes. Engaging with human rights, active citizenship and cultural participation as key elements in social regeneration, the project has evolved community experience toward actual realization of “housing the social”. Three speakers will briefly present different layers of the project.

Patrick Lydon – Co-worker in Camphill Community Callan, committed to inclusive initiatives in the arts, housing and rural community
Mark Dwan – Social entrepreneur in the fields of renewable energy, housing and community development
Rosie Lynch – Curator with Callan Workhouse Union, focusing on creative approaches to the built environment and rural futures

1.30pm

5) Discussion of Camphill and Nimble Spaces in relation to CLT concept

6) Follow Up and Next Meeting

2.30 pm: end

Please RSVP if you are coming in order to give heads up to the RIAI who have kindly offered us the room and hot beverages

Looking forward to an interesting day,

BM
