Promoting the Loomio Community
Currently the invitation to join the Loomio Community is displayed in a system message shown to all new users:
This is far from ideal for a bunch of reasons, e.g. it takes up heaps of valuable space, it could be confusing for a new user to see all these messages, and once they dismiss the message there's no way to get back to the invite.
I've been thinking about what the next step to take to improve this little feature. Today I thought, what if the Loomio Community was displayed in the Groups dropdown for every user? That way everyone would always have access to the group, whether or not they are members.
What do you think?
Note: This is yet another feature which is specific to our instance of Loomio, and would be nice to leave out of the main open-source application. We really need to get onto enginifying Loomio!
On the other hand Jon, it could be argued that it would be nice for other instances of Loomio to point back to the main Loomio Community group. We could even have a sub-group to talk about issues specifically relating to self-hosting.
I think it's a swell idea. We just need some really good text on the group description page and/or a sticky discussion so people who click in there know what they are looking at.
Top right of dashboard could be a spot for semi-persistent notices from Loomio the organisation.
Agree @matthewbartlett but I think that is one iteration further away than my suggestion.
Sorry @richarddbartlett I'd somehow not noticed the Show More link in this instance (I often think the ellipsis is intended by the discussion info writers when it aint), and so hadn't seen your suggestion, which I think is excellent.
"show more" link has got to die!

Sounds like a good idea to me!
