Press Release Suggestion

N NikiV Public Seen by 14

I like the idea of just doing a "Media Alerts" and then as things get formalized doing press releases from that point of view to begin to tell our collective story. This is my first idea for a "MEDIA ADVISORY" .... I may get to something for the Governor. I thought there was a subcommittee for Media/Outreach, so sorry if I've misposted this idea here, I could only find this group. =) My suggestion for a temperature check:

"MEDIA ADVISORY:

Please be advised that on 31 July 2014, individuals from all walks of life will be gathering in Sacramento, California to occupy themselves with the social and political issues that concern them the most for which they desire and demand their government(s) be more responsive to their directives as to how they consent to be governed. Organized events are being scheduled from 31 July 2014 to 3 August 2014 through a collection of volunteers and organizations from all over the United States. For more information:

Cres said Media Advisory comes first . Let's focus on that. It's who what when invite to the press

Way too long a first sentence; I suggest ending after “concern them most” and recasting the rest as a second sentence.

What we say to the Governor should not be the same as what we say to the Press.

I suggest this. First we try to find a lawyer who will participate with us and defend us. The person could advise on the letter to the Governor. What we say to the press and the Governor could be influenced by whether we have a lawyer or not. On the other hand, the 20 or so lawyers who have identified with us in Sacramento are not too eager to participate with us, except to observe and advise on current law.

If we're sure we won't have and accredited lawyer who we can rely on, then I think we should form our own legal team. It would do its best to foresee our defense needs and by foreseeing them, we could make better arrangements for actions where people might choose to "risk arrest".

I would think that someone from a local legal group would be the most likely to have the knowledge and be on site, or nearby, as that lawyer to participate/defend; thoughts on that?

Call the a Sacramento chapter of the ACLU http://www.aclusac.org https://m.facebook.com/groups/36872601914/

Or tweet 'em! https://mobile.twitter.com/ACLU_NorCal

They have a YouTube with local civil liberties videos

Tricia, I can't ask these people to help us because I am pretty sure I will get a negative response. Is there someone who could do what you suggest, who would have a more amenable attitude than I have? I wish @lrroberts were involved in these discussions.

Maybe bring this up at your GA and talk to Occ Sac to see if this is something they want/need and if anyone will bottom-line legal issues.

I'm getting confused. Why is this legal discussion under Press Release. Why are we even bothering with legal issues for a simple media advisory or press release.

@nikiv I sent a letter to Media list - here is pad I was supposed to create for drafting a Media Advisory

sorry to be late with that.

Jackie, the reason is because we have not organized our discussions or our topics or our groups. Here's what I want to get accomplished at the natgat. I want a new paradigm in how to organize, even if you call it planning, and I like the indigenous idea that we need to be accomplices and not allies. I'm sure we will succeed. The next few months will be merely grueling.

We need to abandon phony distinctions between horizontal vs vertical decision making. Those are misapplications of geometric ideas, The misapplication happened because of a combination of postmodern and New Age thought. Our native friends can best teach us how to correct the mistake.

And we aren't a catalyst. We are the substance being changed. Saying we're a catalyst is a misapplication of chemistry.

I'm suggesting reasons why we need a science group.
