Trafalgar Square De-escalation

R RoseLB Public Seen by 157

When: 12th October 2019
Where: Trafalga Square
What: People's Assembly with the question "What do the people gathered here, want to say to those watching around the world?"

Please note: the feedback from this assembly was recorded under challenging circumstances and tight time constraints. Problems with clarity should to accepted as a natural part of that process.

  • Reconnect with nature / open up borders

  • More solidarity - love letters to rebels etc

  • Teach children active listening in schools

  • Feedback from the man on the lock on tower who 'mic checked' his feedback into the crowd - everybody listening to this, buy more boxes at https://rebellion.earth/ to build his tower and other towers even higher.

  • This is not a choice - it's a necessity

  • Seek climate justice - leave fossil fuels in the ground

  • Believe change is possible

  • Individual imperfections make movements beautiful

  • Spread a sense of inclusivity - we all share this problem

  • Educate yourself on emergency and what to do

  • Don't see hypocrisy as an 'us and them' issue

  • Demand no. 3 - Citizen's assembly

  • Government have legal /moral imperative to act

  • Modelling activism and individual actions - become a positive influence on family and friends

  • Focus on positives of actions happening

  • We can all play our part in our own way

  • Government /individual pressure - XR keep it up!

  • Reflect on 'if not you then who?'

  • Government, listen to the experts and share the truth

  • Unite together to spread the truth

  • Acknowledge the feeling of guilt and use it

  • Some urgency from leadership please!

  • Be aware of the misinformation of the media

  • Educate the public about the need and benefits of acting

  • Government widespread media-based truthful information

  • Carbon budget deficit emphasises the emergency

Beautiful. I'd love for someone with some leadership to step up to order these by their own personal perception of importance to the group (some of these bullets are way more impactful for me than others, and I'm aware some people will only look at the first few).

Also to make them into bullets, using the bullet formatting tool

Maybe a line break between the 'really clear, important ones' and 'the rest'

Typo in 'Trafalgar' - in the title

Thank you!
