Housing Ourselves - Convergence

This is a quick note to everyone on this list to get a date in your diary. On the 16th of September in Cloughjordan as part of the Convergence Festival, Cultivate are organising a conference called Housing Ourselves. It will have local and international speakers and look to progress co-housing ideas in Ireland. The event will build on findings from the Unconferences and explore new tenure models, accessing land and options to reduce build costs.

Can new models of housing and the development more liveable neighbourhoods will contribute to healthier and more sustainable local communities? Following on from ‘Housing Ourselves Co-operatively’ held in October 2015 and a Co-Housing Salon hosted in October 2016 Cultivate are planning to host a conference in September of this year and May of 2018 on community led housing. These events will bring together people with an interest or involvement in cooperative housing, community land trusts,, community development, planning, green building and social finance to look at how we can make a community-led approach to housing a reality.
