Water cube bulk shopping & transport

JB Joice Biazoto Public Seen by 55

Kieze interested in purchasing water cubes together for a bulk discount and getting them delivered to the site can organize this here!

more info on the water situation on site: https://www.loomio.org/d/VIwzai9N/drinking-water-planning-aquarius

Please be advised that every water cube (however the state, new or used), should be washed with a high-pressure water hose (will be available at toolhaus) and bleach! do not buy 2nd hand water cubes that contained anything but edible materials!

Storage
Cubes can be stored over the year at the shed 7km away from the site. Should be fine there.

hehe, the whole thing with the Gesundheitsamt is pretty funny indeed :D In Nowhere, we label all those cubes as "not drinking water" although we all drink from it and nobody ever got sick of it. Anyway, no reason to be worried about that aspect at Kiez Burn given our current size.

What is important
* The cube can only have contained food related things. (sunflower oil is borderline I guess)
* we have a high-pressure water thingy (hochdruckreiniger) and bleach on site (@danielaquariusdrin can you confirm the bleach part?). That needs to be used to was the water cube. This washing is important for both used and new water cubes.

@kathleenstoeckel the cube I recommended is almost half the price and free delivery, and you will hav access to all you need to disinfect it on site. Just sayin‘ ;)

We will supply bleach to disinfect water containers. Any oily material is probably hard to remove completely, even with lots of detergent, given the large surface area, and the taste of rancid oil can be pretty unpleasent. Designated drinking water containers would be the safest solution. I also wouldn't lable anything as drinking water if it is not in a drinking water container but agree with Waldo here.

@danielaquariusdrin How would the bleach get to the site? Would you transport it or how would it get to the site?

is the plan to wash the cubes with bleach and then let the bleach evaporate? how long will that take?

The bleach solution needs to be prepared shortly before rinsing the cubes with the solution. The minimum contact time to kill potential pathogens is 3 min, so 5 minutes should be enough. After that, the bleach residuals can be rinsed off the surface with drinking water. Important is to collect the bleach solution and rinsing water because this is harmfull for the environment.

I order the bleach and can carry it in my car. Or it can get transported with all the water equipment. The solution is highly concentrated and needs to get diluted. 25 L should be enough but I will look into that in more detail later.

so the rinsing water needs to be taken off-site by the Kiez for disposal? or can they leave it out to evaporate?

probably this rinsing water can be put where the shower water goes. But that is to be confirmed by @andreasnoack

Can we get a confirmation on this @andreasnoack ? I think it's really important to clarify the grey water situation.
