A National Conference

AK Aaron Keohane Public Seen by 546

Hi all,
A few of us stayed until closing in the Teachers Club last night and had a really fruitful conversation about how we could best facilitate the growth of the community living movement in Ireland. The purpose of which would be to provide a space for people to have valuable conversations and network.
We concluded that the best thing for it was to organise a national conference. We came up with a name and everything - The Irish Community Living Conference.
It would take place during the summer.
Anyone can come along if they wish.
There will be no set speakers as it would be run as an "unconference", ie using an Open Space Schedule - http://www.mindviewinc.com/Conferences/OpenSpaces.html
It was also concluded that it order to realise this vision it will take a group of 5 - 7 people meeting up fortnightly between now and the summer.
If you would like to be one of these people just indicate your interest below. This is gonna be great :)

thats great, and very fortuitous that there is a similar themed conference taking place.

i reckon this will be great for raising profiles and taking next steps... i would love to help with the organising but am over capacity already and will be for at least another month or 2

i reckon i would be able to help doing a website and sourcing a venue.
but if you are already collaborating with nabco/CHI then sounds like you're on the right track!

Hello all,
I just got back from the Ghana Permaculture Institute where I was teaching and facilitating for the last couple of months. I was sorry to miss the salon, it sounds like you had a great discussion, let me know when the next one is. Maybe a group visit here to Cloughjordan could be organised sometime.

This strand really interests me and I am well up for supporting an event in whatever way I can. I have quite a lot of experience in open space and event design. With Cultivate I have organised two 'Housing Ourselves' events on co-housing, both lightly supported by CHI.

Aaron when are you meeting Geoff? I probably cant join you but do keep me in the loop on the outcome and the organisation meetings. Im at 0505 56061 if you want to have a chat sometime.

Keep up the good work folks and all the best for the year ahead.
Davie

Hi Aaron et al,

Keep me in loop re April conference. Community land trusts can help all housing types get a start and we would like to input. Meanwhile, I am trying to get a meeting of the Community land Trusts Initiative (CLTI) arranged at which the Camphill community can brief us on their experience and challenges. All will be welcome.
