HEAL (Health and Environment Environmental Alliance) launched a report last year on the unpaid health bill for pollution with us in Sarajevo; and then other locations. Since Bitola, Belgrade, Pristine and Sarajevo - amongst others - are amongst the 20 most polluted cities in the world, or most polluted cities in Europe causing much health and economic impacts

See attached file of new WHO data on air pollution mortality rates, Serbia is the best in Balkans (best air quality) with being 8. last from behind. Bosnia--highest mortality rates in whole European region!!!

I could prepare some of the files for your use, but would need more of your thinking how to integrate it in WB6 process.

I think in terms of how to integrate we need to link the sustainable development charter more closely to a principle of concentrating investments on "do no harm" or "no regrets" principle while we carry out source apportionment studies. This would main focusing on energy efficiency and energy poverty as projects of no harm no regret

Please note that air quality data for Serbia, but also for other countries in the region ( albeit to a lesser extent) are close to useless.
On this page http://www.resfoundation.org/news-2/#news1 you may find our questions to Serbian Environment Protection Agency under the title WHAT DO AIR QUALITY MEASUREMENT STATIONS IN SERBIA MEASURE?

One BIG thanks to all of you for your inputs so far! On behalf of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, I would like to let you know that we will consolidate your inputs from this discussion and put them up for a vote in one week. This public vote will enable us to transparently select up to three topics to be discussed during the Civil Society Forum in Trieste in July 2017. Outcomes of these consultations and those of our discussions in Trieste will result in a Western Balkans CSO Declaration on Environment, Energy and Climate Change to be included in the overall CSO Declaration that will be presented to the WB Prime Ministers on the WB Summit on 12 July 2017.

So, your inputs remain really important. Please, consider that only those topics to be proposed by WB CSOs here in this consultative process will be discussed in Trieste and presented to the Prime Ministers. We are looking forward to your inputs!
