@balasankarchelamat try mosh, you may have to connect from home, suspend and reconnect from college since it uses ssh for authentication, but use port range 60000-61000. You may manually pass the port number too. You can try to connect via port 80 if those ports are blocked too :)

sudo setcap cap_net_bind_service=+ep /usr/bin/mosh-server
mosh -p 80 user@server

but if all udp is blocked, you can't work around that, you need to ask Meher Baba!

Balu, shouldn't we stop the pod before taking backup? It is better to keep the database state consistent.

Posted the maintenance plans from savepoddery account. Waiting for file transfers to complete, to stop the pod and generate the database dump.

The pod has been stopped. Starting MySQL dump. Might take around half an hour. Database is almost 18GB.

Migrations are still being run.. We have too much posts and comments. :)

I've restarted diaspora, but poddery.com is saying "Can not connect to server". There seems to be some issue with sidekiq.

@balasankarchelamat Just started nginx and we are back in action again! Thanks Balu and Manu for the update. The sidekiq issue was a bug in init script check, I updated the init script.

I think prosody is better than vines as xmpp server (more features and well tested, support for external clients etc)

Enabled chat and migrated diaspora.yml to 0.5.0.1 template. Use your favourite Jabber app to chat with your diaspora friends now! You need to allow chat in your aspects!

@juansantiago Yeah. We know about the issue and are currently debugging what is causing it. Since chat is an alpha feature, there isn't much documentation that we can refer to.
Hope the issue will be solved soon. :)
