Guide to using Tory St

M Murdoch Public Seen by 431

At one of our recent chats we decided that it'd be good to have an overview of the space to help people understand where stuff goes and to encourage a bit more care about using the space.

Here is the latest version. If you have any improvements to suggest, just add a comment :)

@jonathanking - can I put your email on for people who want to put their forthcoming event on the People's Cinema window display?

A recycling blurb: We love recycling, there are 3 bins, 1 for glass/bottles, 1 for paper/cardboard, 1 for plastics - we welcome all these things and more during your use of the space please say hello to our recycling system! Tuesday evenings is recycling night, the Council likes as much recycling as we can give them.

There's now a form up at peoplescinema.org.nz (http://www.peoplescinema.org.nz/#submissions) for people to submit images to go in the display in the window. I'll get @richarddbartlett to add a link to this to the tory st submissions form too!

@lucywheeler - I'm trying to find a good way to ask people to take out everything they bring in. Sometimes the recycling builds up and it all gets a bit stinky so I'd prefer the bins to be last option as we don't have a dedicated person to put this stuff out on the Tuesday.

This is the current view of the document. Still 24 hours to tell me what/where to change it.

TEXT:
The campsite rule: please leave Tory St as good or better than you find it. That means: (i) anything you bring in, take with you when you leave - our storage space is very limited. If you want to donate something to us, ask your liaison person first. (ii) Please sweep the floor after your event - there are brooms and brushes in our storage area; (iii) discuss how to hang things on the walls with us before putting up art; (iv) if you bring in food please wipe surfaces and take any uneaten food home with you, (v) we do have recycling bins so if you have recyclables split them into their bin -ideally in shopping bags - and we’ll put them out on Tuesday nights.

Please stack chairs back against the far left wall. If their feet face the roof they will be able to stack in a neat row. Use the black cloth to cover them.

Toilets and water are up two flights of stairs out the back door. The code is C67 if it is locked. Make sure not to lock yourself out!

We have some big restrictions when it comes to noise. A general rule has been to have only acoustic/quiet music. If you’re showing a film or performing please be mindful that we have many neighbours.

As an open source space we believe in transparency. As such, our discussions on organising the space are open to the public on our Loomio site. Check it out to see how we make collective decisions and if you like it, why not join our group? We are always open to new pals.

The space is free, but we do have our weekly rent paid for by some regular users/friends of the space. If you have koha or a donation - especially if you’re charging admittance or selling something - please give a little to help cover our electricity, rubbish bags and other incidentals. There’s a koha container in the space or transfer/deposit to:
Concerned Citizens Collective
Kiwibank a/c: 38-9011-0874134-00

There are a range of groups using our space who pay our weekly rent. They have some materials in the space that we hope you’ll respect and not touch. For example, please don’t move the People’s Cinema display in the front right window, and don’t go into the theseehere window box. If you want to advertise your upcoming event, please submit it at peoplescinema.org.nz

Cool, nice @murdoch perhaps then we could say along the lines of .. i) anything you bring in, take with you when you leave, this includes any items you use for your event, and rubbish and recycling that may result from the event - our storage space is very limited. If you want to donate something to us, ask your liaison person first. Or something in that blurb :)
