Guide to using Tory St

M Murdoch Public Seen by 431

At one of our recent chats we decided that it'd be good to have an overview of the space to help people understand where stuff goes and to encourage a bit more care about using the space.

Here is the latest version. If you have any improvements to suggest, just add a comment :)

The campsite rule: please leave Tory St as good or better than you find it. That means (i) anything you bring in, take with you when you leave - our storage space is very limited. If you want to donate something to us, ask your liaison person first. (ii) Please sweep the floor after your event - there are brooms and brushes in our storage area; (iii) discuss how to hang things on the walls with us before putting up art.

Please stack chairs back against the far left wall. If their feet face the roof they will be able to stack in a neat row. Use the black cloth to cover them.

Toilets and water are up two flights of stairs out the back door. The code is C67 if it is locked. Make sure not to lock yourself out!

The space is free, but we do have our weekly rent paid for by some regular users/friends of the space. If you have some koha or a donation - especially if you’re charging for the use of the space or selling something - please think about giving a little to help cover our electricity, rubbish bags and other incidentals. There’s a koha container in the space or transfer/deposit to: Concerned Citizens Collective
Kiwibank a/c: 38-9011-0874134-00

We have some big restrictions when it comes to noise. A general rule has been to have only acoustic/quiet music. If you’re showing a film or doing any other performance please be mindful that through our walls are our friends and neighbours.

As an open source space we believe in transparency. As such, our discussions on organising the space are open to the public on our Loomio site. Check it out to see how we make collective decisions and if you like it, why not join our group? We are always open to new pals.

It would be great to say if you're serving food or drinks please mop the floor. It can get a bit sticky otherwise. We have some floor cleaning stuff (somewhere - maybe we should keep this stuff in that filing cabinet) and you can fill up buckets in the toilets on the second floor.

I could add something brief about People's Cinema?

Got it @eamonn - @jonathanking maybe something about instructions being attached to projector? Anything else?

@murdoch yep, and something about the window set up, aka not touching it, and that there will be a form/info on people's cinema + concerned citizens website if people have posters they want to get on the monitor

FYI I've just updated the address of this Loomio group so you can access it from 17tory.loomio.org, and I've updated the group description with a few links to instructional threads like this one.

Does anyone know whether the disabled toilet has ever been able to be unlocked, since someone locked it at one point and there is no code?

Print off and distribute this flyer as a double sided a5 Closed Thu 23 Apr 2015 1:04AM

Hey folk, I'm going to put this on for three days - at the end of it I'll update the flyer and then print some off for in the space as well as sending A4 versions to those of you I have contact details for. I suppose I'll print a couple of larger ones up too, to put in the space itself for our edification. Please comment with any suggestions/additions/subtractions.
