Secretary Position - Nominees

C Connor Public Seen by 218

We will be voting on a new Secretary next week! Who's in?

** This thread will be open to nominations until the end of next meeting (Tuesday). The voting will take place during the following week, right here in this thread, starting at the end of the meeting on Tuesday. The election will close at the end of the week, the following Tuesday (Oct 30). **
To enter the race, simply post in this thread a 1-2 paragraph persuasion "speech". Don't worry: you won't need to deliver it in person, as public speaking skills are not a Secretary requirement :nerd: .

Responsibilities

Attendance

Like all officer positions, participation is of great importance - but when it comes to meetings, attendance of the Secretary is especially important, because you will be keeping record of what happened!

Meeting Minutes

Check out this year's Minutes thread to see what that's all about. Writing these will be your job, as will be attending meetings. If you cannot attend a meeting, it is your responsibility to find someone to take your place for the day (anyone can post in the minutes thread).

The minutes should be posted no later than an hour after the meeting concludes, so it's best to write them during the meeting itself! (You can always post what you have and edit your post anytime afterwards. )

Calendar

While the responsibility of knowing the schedule is shared among officers, the Secretary shall make sure the Calendar is updated as events are planned, especially in the case when no one else has done so.

That's about it. Being Secretary for our Club isn't too complex :P The above list will be refined over the next few days - hang tight. We also have more officer nominations opening up. If you want to apply for those, feel free to apply for this one as well - there is no rule against it.

Desirable Traits

  • Attention to detail
  • Reliably delivers on commitments
  • Punctual (or at least more punctual than the rest of us)
  • Effective Communicator

Good luck everyone!

I'm not very good at persuasion so I don't know how this is going to go. I think that I would make a good secretary because I am very organized. I write down events happening as soon as I know about them. I have photographic memory which means that I can remeber what goes on in meetings, in school, or outside of school without the need to write it down, but sometimes I do just for the heck of it. I am always on time and if I end up being late I make sure people know. When it comes to me and commiments I always deliver. In fact I'm usually the one who reminds everyone else, which is why I'm so annoying 馃槀. However, I am not very good at communicating, but I do make an effort to try and say what needs to be said. Hopefully you understand and still think of me for secretary. Thankyou.

Not sure that's what photographic memory means haha.
But I'm glad you're great with holding people accountable to their commitments 馃槇

photographic memory is the ability to remember info or images in great detail without having to write stuff down.

Not quite, but maybe that's the pop-definition. I've never heard of that version before, but since photographic memory is just a popular myth, I guess it could be a more useful one. Still, the only difference between those described your definition, and ordinary healthy adults (most people can remember things without writing it all down) is the "in great detail" part.
A vivid memory could be quite useful indeed!
