Embedding etherpad - iFrame
Is it possible to embed external elements in loomio posts? For example an etherpad in order to improve collaborative writing.
An embedded pad is better than just a link, more immediate.
I've seen it's possible with discourse forums.
It looks like the answer is "Yes, perhaps with a little styling wonkiness" (I reckon it would be better in a thread description than in a comment like above)
For reference, the code I used to embed the above was
<iframe name="embed_readwrite"
src="<a url to an etherpad>"
width=600
height=400>
</iframe>
It also feels a lllittle slow to me, but I'm not sure how much control we have over the performance of an etherpad within an iframe. In any case, I'd love to hear how you get on with it.
I reckon it would be better in a thread description than in a comment like above
Absolutely. This was discussed briefly 2 years ago. Note that by "context box" here I mean the same thing a thread description.
Is there any way to make iframe more responsive to screen resolution? or add css options within the embedded code? Sorry, this is a noob question.
I noticed we can embed videos too!
Howto for youtube:
1. Go to your video address
2. Click "Share"
3. Click "Embed"
4. Click "Activate optimized privacy mode"
5. Copy the iFrame code and paste it in your loomio discussion
Is it possible to embed other websites too? @gdpelican
Thank you!
Hi @armandopitocco , you can embed whatever will appear in an iframe, using the example noted above
<iframe name="some_name" src="some_url"></iframe>
Probably I'm ignorating something obvious... but it doesn't work for two things I think could be helpful for online facilitation.
In framasoft I found a beatiful online board with post-it, FraMemo/Scrumblr, and a mental map, FramaMindmap/Wisemapping.
When i try to embed them with an iFrame it says "page doesn't exist" :(
iframe seems it doesn't work anymore! @gdpelican
iframes not working for me either. All I see is code.
We upgraded the markdown renderer marked.js and it does not allow iframes anymore.
I think the readme for marked is telling us that we'd need to disable sanitise html, which seems wildly insecure for an application like ours - it would expose us to XSS attacks.
Testing iframe in comments
It also seems that the GFM spec allows iframes. We have enabled GFM in marked but it does not seem to support them anyway.
Let's give it a spin!
