Meeting tonight Tuesday, June 23rd

Further to our discussion at Steering last week about placing an ad/ open letter about the transition (basically the Devon for Europe one) in the Western Daily Press. I've tried to track down a number to call and found most of them are not in use. I have emailed them via a form (you keep getting redirected to the Reach/Somerset Live site). I've filled in a form and am waiting to hear back. If anyone has any time to take this further, please do as I don't. I feel as if I'm chasing my tail.

Halleluljah! Ignore above rant. Have heard back from Western Daily Press and just talked to Jake who has now sent the following email. Basically a 1/2 page spread would cost £900 (including VAT and if we can get the text to them promplty they will run it on Friday and Saturday (that's the 2 for 1 special). I suggest if we go along with this we look at Devon's letter and see if there's anything we need to change. Jake said that 1/2 page would be c. 500 words plus an image which coulkd be a logo, pic - 'Even that European flag of yours,' said Jake !!!

Update: Following on from yesterday's meeting, I submitted the letter with our changes and a logo Mark sent and with these instructions:

'As discussed, we'd like a half-page 2 for 1 ad (it's an open letter) to go out on Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th  in the Western Daily Press. We'd like our ad to be on a right hand page in the top half of a horizontally divided page and on one of the first few pages - not at the back of the paper. There are c. 300 words so please feel free to increase the font size to fit. There's also an image with our logo. '

As far as I understand , the creative department create the ad - we don't need to do anything. They will send me the proofs tomorrow morning. £900 for a 1/2 page spread in the Western Daily Press on Friday and Saturday. Must remember to buy the paper.

This is the proof but it's now gone to press so we can't male any changes. It'll be in the Western Daily Press on Friday and Saturday this week.

Did anyone get the Press today? I've had meetings and not been out the house but would like to check to see what they've done.

Notes from last week's meeting. We shoudl have our next one on either Tuesday, 7th or Weds, 8th July. Obviously, can't do 7th becuase of MSC but I can't do the 8th as I'm away that day 'socially distancing ' with some old friends.Does anyone else want to hold the meeting?

Thank you for the notes, Jane. I haven't had an answer yet about the EU Settlement Scheme: Document Verification Service, but I'll let you know when I do and when the service will be up and running at the Guildhall again. Birth registrations are possible there now, so I hope it won't be long before EU citizens are allowed in ... by appointment, naturally.

I'd sort of assumed we weren't having a Media meeting next week, as there's the Molly Scott Cato event on Tuesday.
