Taxpayers paying taxes by check shall fill “Tax Payment Only” in the field of beneficiary other than the name of taxation office.

National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance(NTBT) indicates that those taxpayers who pay taxes by checkshall fill “Tax Payment Only” in the field of beneficiaryother than the name of taxation office. If the beneficiaryis taxation office, the check is required to be endorsed bytaxation office to pay tax. Therefore, in order to preventthe checks without endorsement stamp of taxation office fromrejection by financial institutions for tax collections,taxpayers shall pay special attention to fill “Tax PaymentOnly” in the field of beneficiary when they pay taxes bycheck.

NTBT also mentions that those taxpayers who pay taxes at financial institutions for tax collections by sight checkwith issuance date within limited tax payment period will beconsidered to pay taxes on time. No overdue charge will belevied due to the check clearing over the limited paymentdeadline. However, if that check is rejected because ofinsufficient deposit and the taxpayer pays the tax by cashafter limited payment period, that taxpayer shall be chargedby 1% delinquent payment surcharge for every 2 overduedays in accordance with Article 20 of Tax Collection Act.Where the period of delay exceed 30 days, the interestarising from both the tax due and surcharge for delinquentpayment shall be imposed and calculated on a daily basis atthe fixed interest rate set for 1st January in that yearquoted by postal savings for a one-year term deposit.
