Determine Features for Minimumally Viable Product (MVP)

J Janice Public Seen by 328

We have a fantastic list of features which we want to implement, but what is the very minimum in terms of functionality that would make our app useful and usable?

Agreed.

I like the list a post MVP could be sorting and filtering. Not necessarily MVP but I can work on writing some tests across any of these features. Most sample apps out there don't necessarily have code coverage it might be good to . Also UI work as well no expert but willing to help where I can

@ijeomaezeonyebuchi you are going to be invaluable with your testing knowledge. I will be implementing the database (for data persistence purposes) using the new Room architecture component, in conjunction with the ViewModel which is a lifecycle aware architecture component. I have included a link to the ViewModel documentation.

Ive looked in to MVVM on iOS I'll look at this and add some ideas it should be comparable.

What do you all think should be the format for displaying the resources once the button is clicked? Do you want to do a video link preview and a basic description of the course material, or should we go as far as posting the transcripts?

IMHO a video link and these other ideas are really good, but way beyond MVP. In the Play Store we will have an opportunity to describe what the app is for. Per Material Design specs, how to use the app should be self explanatory. As far as resources, they should be displayed in a RecyclerView where each item has a clickhandler which will launch the resource in a a web browser. We can make the experience more robust in the future, but let's just get it working to begin with.

A title of the article name, followed by a 160 char description of what the article explains

For the resources links, I feel we should not have URLs pointing to our current slack channel and the forum. These are only visible to the current scholarship students, not to everyone else who uses the app.
Also, I was wondering if some categories need to have sub-categories as well.

Completely agree. I haven't looked at the resources collected so far, but we will undoubtedly have to do some cleanup for duplicates and non-accessible links.

The links I have provided were not directed to slack or the forum, but directly to the source.
