IRC for CS3

GN Grace Nolan Public Seen by 8

So http://www.uniirc.com/ will host an IRC channel for us if we would like!

Here is the stuff
https://github.com/uniirc

I like the idea of joining a group of student societies. I think it helps bring us closer together. Who knows, maybe we might be able to collaborate with other university groups and possibly share resources!

Having an IRC channel will allow us to easily communicate with each other. It will enable students to give us direct feedback and share their ideas.

What do you think?

So we set up a channel with uniirc and then HipChat made their free service better by making it unlimited. So now we have two chat systems...

Seems like a good idea where we can grow and talk to our members and other societies for ideas!

I like the idea of possible collaboration with these other universities.

I think if we do this, we can use Loomio for decisions and irc for general discussion. This way we can greatly decrease number of emails sent and time in meetings.

That would be good, its hard to keep track of the different emails.

I just registered an account with UniIRC, give me the word and I'll create us #cs3 and #cs3-board or something. That sound good?

Sweet. I think we should just have one channel (#cs3) and everyone can join. I think having the transparency will be good. We can redirect people who are being disruptive to #hub.

I've created the channel, just waiting for approval:

"Your request to register #cs3 has been received and should be processed shortly."

I am currently idling in there, come and say hello!

I have also created a CNAME for irc.cs3.org.nz so that it points to irc.uniirc.com instead of my server. So you can use that domain to connect instead of irc.uniirc.com if you wish.
