PrivacyYathra campaign to promote federated social media
We have organized Diaspora Yatra in the past (https://poddery.com/tags/diasporayatra) were we traveled across Kerala and talked about diaspora. I think its high time we do that again, this time expanding the topics to cover matrix, mastodon and other Free Software replacements like NextCloud.

Update 1: We have a matrix group now at #PrivacyYathra:poddery.com and we already got our first invite.
Update 2: We are using etherpad attached to the matrix group and gitlab issues (https://git.fosscommunity.in/community/privacy-yathra/milestones/1) to track status of specific tasks before we can launch campaign. Looking for volunteers to take ownership of these tasks.

Would you join/support this campaign to travel across Kerala? Closed Tue 25 Jun 2019 6:01PM
We will be going to colleges and schools to talk about privacy and federated social media options across Kerala (and possibly outside if there is interest). The strategy will be similar to diaspora yatra.

But still Need an answer to how antisocial activities like terrorism can be limited.

@akshay sure, I started with a conservative target as we are confident of our contacts in Kerala. We can definitely expand to wherever we have contacts.

Next step would be creating a website. I think we can reuse the diaspora yatra webpage or if someone wants to redesign a new one, that is also fine.

@tanzeemmb are you saying if we continue to use WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Skype etc terrorist will not use secure communication tools?
Tanzeem MB Tue 21 May 2019 5:09AM
If secure communication tools are blocked, terrorists can't use them right
Pirate Praveen Tue 21 May 2019 6:59AM
- How do you block all secure communications tools? Won't it block our government or business that needs secure communication tools (even assuming the citizens don't want it) 2. Why don't we all live in jails to protect ourselves from terrorists?
Tanzeem MB Tue 21 May 2019 5:11AM
Isn't that the reason why many countries like Iran have blocked tools like Telegram
Pirate Praveen Tue 21 May 2019 7:02AM
In countries like Iran, Soudi Arabia and China people have no rights. They don't want to allow any dissent. Dissent is essential for democracy. Do you want to live in a country like that? Do you want everyone opposed to Modi and BJP jailed in India?
