Alpha/Beta Subscription plan

Hi, I have had an account with loomio for a while, with active use a few years ago. If I start a new group now will I be able to add more than 10 members? What is the status of pre-pricing accounts?

Hi Abraham, Thanks for checking in with us.

A few months ago we changed our pricing to ensure Loomio's sustainability and so we can continue developing the product for you :-)

We don’t sell user data nor put advertising in Loomio, and plan to keep it that way.

However no product is truly free - and there are very real costs in maintaining, supporting and developing a software product.

As we don't receive income from other sources, subscription revenue from paying customers is our primary income.

If you are planning a group with more than 10 people then we have a range of pricing options. If you're setting up a group for business or government use, we expect you to upgrade to Loomio Gold and pay the full subscription price of $US 39.00/mo. If your group is for a funded non-profit organization, we offer a non profit discount at $US 29.00/mo.

(By the way, this pricing is still less than many other collaboration software products.)

As a software social enterprise, we do not want money to be a barrier to people starting groups in their community; so if your group is an unfunded community group, I invite you to apply for a heavily discounted rate by filling out our community application form. We can only provide service at low rates (and in some cases for free) if it is supported by sufficient people paying full price rates.

At this time we haven't put a hard limit on the number of members in a group, so you won't hit a pay wall at 11 users - at least not yet... Many people tell us they value Loomio, so we're hoping sufficient people will respect that value and upgrade their groups. This is our appeal to you, an important member of the Loomio community.

In the next few weeks I will be writing to coordinators of existing active groups on the free plan to request they upgrade their groups.

If you value how Loomio is helping your group collaborate and make better decisions together, you can help us help you by upgrading to a paid subscription :-)

thanks michael...this is a great group to belong to....lots of relevant info.

does applying obligate a group to upgrade? shall we get a degree of consensus from whole group before we apply?

Hi David, If you're referring to applying for the unfunded community sponsorship, there's no obligation to upgrade. It is common to discuss and even make a decision about upgrading within the group, but this is not mandatory.

Any person (usually a coordinator) in the group can apply, and offer to pay the sponsorship rate for unfunded community groups. We have tried to price this at a level that an individual can afford and in recognition of their personal sponsorship for their community group.

Hi David, I see you've filled out the unfunded community form - thanks :-)

loomio.org is a global service based on servers in the US, and we opted for the most commonly used global currency. In time, and as Loomio grows we may be able to support multiple currencies.
