We're Back!

I have made up a whole lot of these images based on the list we created on the vision statement thread and I would like to use them in launching the new website and gathering members back there.

But I figured before I go throwing any half baked relaunch ideas at Fred I should talk it over with you all and get your input.

I think we should put together a list of sites we have access to and contact the people who control them (Friends of the Internet Party and such) for a controlled release. Get Fred to write up an official news release. Write emails to media outlets informing them that we are open for business again (National Radio, Herald, etc....) and then start hammering the media all at the same time. Also release the information on the official Facebook page and do a mass email to the membership as well.

We are so fragmented now (it has been ten months) that I think we need to try and get as many people to the site at once to build some momentum back up again.

What do you think?

Yes we need to get noticed again.

I have been trying really hard on twitter but it seems all of nz has
gone to sleep with regards to the internet party

wouldn't mind some twitter tweeters in there helping me out

twitter was one of our strongest marketing tools

we need to get that one up and kicking again

thanks @maelwryth

hi guys, Rosco.

What do you mean 'hammering the media'?

Here's my handle on it.

Save the trumpet blasts until we have the A.G.M. and a democratically elected exec.from the wider membership.

We also need to find a suitable spokesperson to replace Laila, who has the charisma and the political nous to front the party in the media and in parliament.

This is a critical role and careful selection is a must!

Try to remember that everyone knows the Internet Party from the big splash made at the last election.

I've said this before, the media will flock to the reformed Internet Party automatically if there is a story worth reporting, you don't need to overegg the Party artificially.

Let's talk with, consult, engage and involve the wider membership, fix the finances, get our ducks lined up in a row before calling attention back on ourselves.

I use the positive example of 'Fred' who said diddelly squat until he had something concrete to present, and when he did, it was amazing to most who thought the party was a basket case.

Under promise, over deliver.

Stealth is one of the most lethal weapons in any conflict, and politics is adverserial by it's nature.

Nuff for now

P.S. Isn't this the sort of discussion we should be having on the new I.P. party website?

@rossburrows One thing we don't have as far as I know is a way to @ people on the new site and even if we did we don't have enough people over there as yet to make a difference. At the moment we have 43 people registered at the new site, and most of those I don't recognise and don't post.

Whilst I get what you are saying about the media jumping us, we need to inform as many members at once and get them posting and using their time and energy for the party on the new site otherwise we either;

a) Fall back here.
b) Nothing happens.

Each time this happens we lose a few more and this can't be aloud to continue. We need a situation where my voice and Ross's and Debbie's are drowned in the noise otherwise the direction this party heads in won't be the will of the masses but instead the ideas of the few.

I suppose I we could always whack up a "We're back and we're at the new site" and leave them scattered at the end of each Loomio conversation and move this to the new site. I would prefer it there, but we can't call in the periphery there like we can here. Of course I still have that list of members here, and Fred could do a mail out. Over 1000 voted in the election, and half that would be a good start for the site.
