Don't override user choice about 'Following'
If you set a discussion to "not following" but then participate in it, the system automatically changes you back to "following". Should it continue to respect your choice not to follow, even if you participate in the discussion after that?
Hi @carlosgallogaravan can you explain more what you mean? Thanks!
@alonna A discussion that does not want to follow, the frame with the state 'Not Following' - You will not be notified of activity in this thread. (Click to follow the thread)
When I write a comment, Loomio automatically changes the status to 'Following' - You will be notified of activity in this thread. (Click to unfollow thread)
Loomio should not change the status automatically.
Maintain the status 'Not Following'
I hope I have clarified the issue
I prefer that people who comment are automatically 'Following', and they can choose to be "Not Following" if they desire that. I think that commenting should be considered an effort at creating dialogue-- not just monologue-- by default.
By creating a discussion the state is always 'Following'.
When the state is 'Not Following', it was decided to change state and not receiving notifications
This is where Loomio must maintain state
I think @carlosgallogaravan is saying that even if you actively set it to "not following" if you participate, you will automatically be following again.
Well, I think that if you participate at any time-- even after having previously opted out of following a discussion-- you should probably be following the discussion afterwards, as a default and general practice. I think that if you want to say something and then immediately depart, you should probably need to press an extra button.
This isn't a very significant subject to me personally, however.
@gregorycassel yeah that's the assumption we had when we designed how it works...
@alanna You understand what happens
By posting a comment, the state must not pass from 'Not Following' a 'Following', automatically, I just want to publish a comment
