Overview of the translation process for translators
If you're interested in helping to translate, talk to Nati: [email protected]
Here's how it works:
- Create an account on Transifex and join the Loomio project
- Start by reading the Translation style guide and the technical guide
- Join an available language or request a new language team and then you can get underway!
Things to keep in mind:
- Ideally each language will have at least two people collaborating together, to ensure a high quality translation. Language teams can coordinate on Loomio.
- Because Loomio is in constant development, the translation is an ongoing process. Be prepared for the possibility that parts of your work will go out of date shortly after completion.
Thanks so much for your help, and don't hesitate to ask any questions :)

zack Sun 30 Jun 2013 8:56AM
cool. what is the deadline for completing translations before going live?
Richard D. Bartlett Sun 30 Jun 2013 12:12PM
@zack the site gets deployed multiple time per week, so there is no deadline as such :)
zack Sun 30 Jun 2013 8:14PM
done :)

You translators are amazing! This work is hugely appreciated. Thanks so much for making Loomio accessible to so many more communities!

Jon Lemmon Tue 23 Jul 2013 3:12AM
Just deployed our Bulgarian translation! Thanks to Georgi Serbezov for the translation work. =)
zack Wed 24 Jul 2013 8:37PM
@jonlemmon can you add other languages which are translated? Romanian was in the list and now isn't anymore.

Jon Lemmon Fri 26 Jul 2013 5:47AM
@zack will add Romanian soon! In the meantime, type in ?locale=ro at the ended of a discussion url to see Loomio in romanian. =)
Richard D. Bartlett Mon 29 Jul 2013 2:11AM
Sorry for the mixup with Romanian @zack, I am back at work now so I will make sure that all the languages are working properly :)

@moxybeirut if you're interested in translation, this is the place to start :)

Moxy Sun 15 Dec 2013 11:01PM
thanks @richarddbartlett
I would like to help in Arabic , i know english and french but my main language is arabic, so i can assist in arabic translation of loomio
Richard D. Bartlett Sun 15 Dec 2013 11:13PM
That's excellent @moxybeirut! We've had a lot of people asking about Loomio in Arabic. Have a read through the guidelines and let me know if you have any questions as you get underway :)
It will be the first right-to-left language on Loomio, so I imagine there could be some interesting technical challenges for us to work though.

I'm learning some Esperanto now... In some weeks I will have more time and maybe I can start a translation.
(Stop laughing) XD
For ex. ipernity is a social net many esperanto-speakers use (just because its in esperanto) but they use it in a "cultural way" more as a discussion network although its built mainly for photos... So it would be great to join this two worlds, so close in its humanistic principles.
Still laughing? See this TEDX

I think @mixirving mentioned something about Esperanto happening? Yep here it is at 29% already!

PauKokura Fri 14 Mar 2014 12:06PM
Yes! I've just find it!
Sí! Just l'he trobat!
Jes! Mi ĵus trovis ĝin!

Hi @moxybeirut
I just noticed that you posted about translating Loomio to Arabic. I have started translating a little while ago and so far around 40% of the source text got translated.
It would be great if you could join :)

Joop Kiefte (LaPingvino) Sat 30 Aug 2014 10:17PM
@zombilechuck I have completed the translation. Maybe you can review it and answer in the Esperanto Translation thread if something seems wrong?

PauKokura Thu 9 Oct 2014 12:39PM
Hiii.
It's been long time since my last collaboration in loomio. Lots of things in my personal professional life.
I'm coming back soon! Promise!

PauKokura Thu 9 Oct 2014 12:39PM
I'm zombilechuck, this is my new name ;)

mix irving Sun 12 Oct 2014 10:20PM
@waelalsaad thanks for your suggestion of pinning the discussion. At the moment we can't do that, but I've done the next best thing, I've added important links to the group description.
Keep giving great feedback!!
