I'm Danyl Strype. Over the years I've been active in social justice, animal rights, environmental, civil rights, drug law reform, and internet freedom issues. I was involved in setting up a community newspaper, a social centre, the Aotearoa versions of Indymedia and CreativeCommons, and the Aotearoa Permaculture Network service. I was active in the IMC-Alternatives working group, and I've been the tech coordinator at an infoshop, where I gave away GNU/Linux live CDs and ran Linux Play sessions.

For the last two years I co-directed the Circulation circus and fire arts festival, and established the Circulation Community incorporated society to run it. I'm currently the website liaison and cultural officer on the Council of Permaculture in NZ, and the Orientation Officer for the NZ Pirate Party. I'm working on setting up a training scheme to teach people how to recondition PCs using GNU/Linux. I'm passionate about federated social networking/ free network services, but I won't be able to work on the over the next year, as I'll be starting a one year net fast at the end of April, and writing a book about it called 'Email Ate My Life'.
