VOTE MOGG OUT leaflet
At yesterday's meeting we discussed this A4 leaflet. This leaflet will have a print run of about 5K and be delivered by us (to conform to electorall spending limits). One side will feature Dick's pink Top Hat Vote Mogg Out design (not the For the Few design which precedes it - sorry can't separate them etc.) . The reverse side is a tri-fold leaflet. We've decided on the wording for the front & reverse sides of the leaflet and concluded it will be entirely Mogg-themed (so no other anti-Brexit arguments). Theme is to show he's not a 'man of the people', on an elevated platform and doesn't care about the concerns of ordinary folk. Please don't suggest any changes to layout etc. as it won't look like this (Dick Daniel will be revamping) - all we're focusing on is the text. The bit that needs some work is the inside. At the bottom it will have the tactical voting stuff - no change there. But it's the top bit we hadn't quite decided -we thought Top Toff Quotes - 3 things he's said (plus dates he said them) that make him look bad. This needs to be finalised today to go to Dick for the design, back to us for a final check so Mark can order by the end of the week. '

I would almost certainly vote for Trump if I was American. 11th Sept 2016 Radio 4 'Broadcasting House'

I'm not sure he actually said that on the interview I heard. He said he'd vote Republican and the interviewer pushed him to say he's vote for Trump. I might be wrong as I didn't listen to it closely

"And I think if either of us were in a fire, whatever the fire brigade said, we would leave the burning building. It just seems the common sense thing to do. LBC interview by Nick Ferrari 4 Nov 2019

@maggieturner I think that is a really good quote for the leaflet. Is understood easily and sums up his position nicely. (the Trump one)
As we said yesterday about three quotes, my favourites in this particular case would be
- The one with the 2nd referendum (1st on Sally's list
- The vox populi one (2nd on Sally's list) - hilarious 😂
- The 'I would vote Trump' one (Maggie)
@ianbartle I agree with you re the 50 year quote, as you laid out in your email.

Sorry I emailed rather than checking on Loomio

This is what I said in the email (slightly edited). We'll have to double check it and the date if we are going to run with it.
The 50 years thing seems to come from a channel 4 news interview I think 21st or 22nd July 2018.
Although some papers headlined it as - 'JRM says it could take up to 50 years for Brexit benefits' - the interview is:
Rees-Mogg: “We will know at some point, of course we will. But it’s a question of timescale.”
Guru-Murthy: “So how long have you got?”
Rees-Mogg: “We won’t know the full economic consequences for a very long time, we really won’t.”
Guru-Murthy: “Of course not, but I mean we’ll have an indication. We’ll know if there’s been chaos, we’ll know if there have been job losses.”
Rees-Mogg: “The overwhelming opportunity for Brexit is over the next 50 years.”
Quite difficult to use this directly - it's not good to quote 'overwhelming opportunity'. Perhaps we could quote 'we won't know the full economic consequences [of Brexit] for a very long time' then say something like - 'which he suggested could be up to 50 years' (though the latter not in quotes as he didn't exactly say that).

I amended that for the leaflet. Could you check to see if mine is an accurate reflection?
Jane Riekemann Wed 13 Nov 2019 2:36PM
Actually, I can't see the leaflet I've amended or Dick's poster. Where are they? Can't get the hang of this updated Loomio.

I've uploaded them again. The leaflet is the Mogg OUT reverse side
