Rearranging things for 2017

JB Jo Booth Public Seen by 406

I've been asked by the Exec to run a broom through the loomio and get things geared up for the 2017 election, so thought I'd start here with a smaller group and let you know what we're proposing.

At present the idea is to go through the existing threads and move many of them to a 2014-2016 archive.. leaving the ones that fit into the new structure into the right slots there..

  • policy portfolio threads - our main policy areas
  • general chat - add a section for general threads (like this one
  • enquiries - public questions and answers.
  • research - people working on finding answers
  • OSINT/news - things of interest to the party.

I also propose some areas will be public, some members only, some exec and some for candidates or IP staff - to keep audiences focused and efficient.

Keen to hear feedback.

I've tested this by moving this thread -- https://www.loomio.org/d/29zItpLS/a-party-leader?utm_campaign=thread_mailer&utm_medium=email&utm_source=new_discussion -- will wait a few days and check with members in it if it caused issues..

So I've checked with my test thread and the public bits stay public, the private bits stay hidden, and links still work - so over the next week I'll start to sort and shuffle things around to make it a bit clearer what is current.

I haven't yet made much progress on this - but now have a proposed structure for the top level policy subgroups from the exec - so will start bedding it in soon. It looks great - and there's certainly some areas for new policies and some improvements on the old.

So, watch this space :)

I've added Tags for each of our top level policy areas for 2017 - as present the colours are based on a google image search for the tag name - and an approx. colour from the results ;)

I'll start to label up existing topics.

Edit needed on https://www.loomio.org/d/8ZKwY7cL/internet-party-executive-committee-by-election-2017

Just recieved email directing me to that thread yet it says, "thread to be"?

Aye - @fredlook has fixed that up - I made the thread for the mailout earlier as a placeholder ;)

I'll check it. Is that on the main website @taneharre ? I think I've seen it. Our 'well' style doesn't work so well for large blocks of text.

What do you think of the blurb anyway? We're reviewing our content and should get a number of tweaks happening. Want to help?

Yes. On the main. Sorry to throw it your way without even a fix.

And yes. I'll helpalthough i am on small svreen for another three weeks so it might be limited to pointing out things for the moment.

Hey Guys,

New to the 2017 stuff - past member. Looking at the website - awesome start. Is there a team together for that? I think that underlying technology should be an open source project on github.com which would also be a great way to engage our vibrant tech community in NZ, and an avenue for tech people everywhere to contribute to the IP polling system and communication platform.

Just a thought.
