PROPOSAL FOR WINTER CAMP!

After the bittersweet conduction of the mostly successful 'FSMK Camp 14.07 July 2014', it is time to plan ahead of time for upcoming events.
The format for a Follow-up camp or an Advanced camp has always been a tough one to crack, despite various discussions. The obvious flaw in the follow up Advanced Camp is that it is virtually impossible to determine what qualifies as advanced and who and what the size of the target audience is.
Here is a possible format for conducting camps as part of the brand FSMK Camps.

Summer Iteration: More or less along the direction of Camp 14.07. With more focus on philosophy and various quick intro's to existing Free alternatives.

WINTER ITERATION: Due the limitation of time and resources during the Summer camp, we usually are not able to contribute back to the community in any ways other than introducing potential candidates to lead the movement in their own ways.
Summer Camps mostly focus on teaching the attendees technologies and programming. The Free World, however, is not all about code, nor are the people. Hence, to expand our reach and connect with people who are simply not meant for coding, we need an alternative format.

Winter Camps may not be as long as the summer camps in duration due to VTU schedules. Considering this, FSMK has the oppurtunity to conduct a Drive-form of a camp. Where we focus on contribution to the society. Examples are:
1) The OpenStreet Maps drive we had this summer camp was a really good idea. We could dedicate an entire day to this and contribute to the database as part of Winter Camp. The obvious perk here being a day's travelling/trek.
2) Teaching use of Free software in schools, simple things, like using Ubuntu.
3) A Diaspora* adoption drive. Building their personal/professional networks and identities over Diaspora*.
4) Filing bugs to different Free software projects. By teaching attendees basics of Software testing and getting them to submit detailed/reasonable feedback to the respective communities.
5) A workshop for visual design artists, painters, photographers etc where all of that day's work shall be released under the Creative Commons licence to the world.
6) Documentation workshop where we help some Free software communities with their documentation

The basic idea here is to help contribute to the Free Society. The target audience being FSMK volunteers, IT professionals, teachers, students, GLUG students as part of their annual "outdoor trips" and FOSS enthusiasts.
I think it's a good format for us to teach during summer and help contribute during the winter (has nothing to do with the seasons).

This is a rough draft of the proposal. Please provide feedback so I can refine it before pushing it out of the Core to the Discuss mailing lists.
