Subgroups for archiving threads?
Dear Devs, I tried to make subgroups for the purpose of archiving old and deprecated threads - just to clear a bit the overwhelming amount of discussion threads listed on Frontpage...
That failed as they only got sorted in a way by adding extra tag of subgroup, but remained on FrontPage display. For me this is a very limited implementation of sorting/moving metaphor in existing interface, but also it is not a bug I can report. Can some of developers respond if there is a way to archive and clean up that is functional? Best - Z
Yea, absolutely agree. I think loomio is really missing the ability to mark discussions as closed, or completed, so that someone arriving at the front page can see what's current and what's in the past. Archived seems like a weird term to me.
And a closed discussion could include a summary of the outcome.
@robertguthrie glad you like it and consider how to do it...'archived' indeed is not perfect nor only term that should be used. please inform us in if/when could this be developed (much in need for me) ;-p
I would really +1 all of the above. I'm a co-ordinator on a number of groups that are starting to use Loomio (Gold) intensively, and I am really starting to feel:
(i) not being able to close a thread
(ii) not easily being able to archive threads (the moving threads into subgroups gets tedious after a while :) )
Developing solutions for the above would be much appreciated.
Similarly why limited to moving into another group and not merging threads of doubled up?
@whiplashsquid that is indeed similar but would increase complexity of the feature request I originally made, so please consider to elaborate and publish why/how that could work on another thread - I promise to support it ;-)
Would be great to be able to archive discussions and their decision(s) once the group has reached a decision (or abandonned it), and be able to keep access to the discussion for historical/transparency purposes, through search or through an "archived discussions" menu in sidebar.
