Penny Travlou Tue 27 Feb 2018 4:28PM

Hello! My name is Penny Travlou and am based in Edinburgh. I am a lecturer in cultural geography and urban theory in the School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture, University of Edinburgh for 15 years. I've been involved in the P2P Foundation for a number of years and am part of the research team. I'm interested in (urban) commons and commoning practices in a wider context both from an academic and activist perspective. I've been a member of the Commons Assembly in Athens and at present am co-organising a series of actions against the mallification of an urban commons park in Athens i.e. Plato's Academy Park. As I live and work in Edinburgh, I am keen on contributing to discussion and activities around P2P/Commons Transition in Scotland.

Hi - I'm Nick. I live and work in Edinburgh. I'm a software engineer, who happens to think co-operatives might be a better way to make a living, and I am looking for like-minded people.

I'm interested in P2P Foundation ideas (obviously), free/libre software, rethinking economics & money reform, and making things. I'm member of Edinburgh Hacklab and occasionally also seen on the cooperatively-run social.coop Mastodon instance as @wu_lee.

Simon Grant Fri 2 Mar 2018 10:44AM

I'm Simon Grant, founding partner in Cetis LLP with my own ancient ramshackle home page. I've been an intense occasional contributor to the P2PF wiki, and very interested not only in Commons Transition ideas generally, but specifically in the union of governance and well-being.

As in my other comments, one of my great interests here is in how to handle the complexity of all the different movements and initiatives without getting into Life of Brian land of the Judean People's Front. Generally, how people handle complexity has been an interest since my related PhD days, and I'd like to broaden that thinking in collaboration with others to cover the cognitive demands of cooperation, sharing and collaboration, and how we can make it more stable and accessible to all.

Hi, I'm Stacco and I'm advocacy coordinator at the P2PF. I'm not in Scotland, but we've recently had a chat about this particular group, which we're very happy about! So just chiming in to say that you can definitively say it's endorsed by the P2P Foundation.

Elspeth Tue 6 Mar 2018 10:02AM

Physically, I am located in either Edinburgh Scotland or Block Island, RI, USA with quite frequent long trips to China or New Zealand. I think of myself as a scientist but never really worked as one, as I diverted into history of science and then teaching, then diverted again via therapy counselling trainings into understanding ways of thinking (haha trying to understand, more realistically becoming more and more accepting of differences). Long since retired as education lecturer (mostly in social justice) the location variety is because I am a global grandmother, not a tourist or business person. You can probably learn more about me from my blogs, which are thoughts in process, not articles aiming for clarity- https://elspethc.wordpress.com/ and https://transitionalspace.wordpress.com/. Commons thinking is my hope for the future. My despairs I keep to myself most of the time.

Hi everyone, I'm Rory, I'm based in Leith, I work as a freelance web-developer and open data trainer. I discovered the works of P2PF and Commons Transition a few years ago. It joined so many dots for me, both in terms of ideas, and in terms of things I've worked on in the past. I'm still learning lots of things, but I felt organising a meetup and learning from others was the right way to do it.

Hi, I'm David. I'm currently studying Religious Studies at The University of Edinburgh but I'm interested in (ethical!) software development, leading me to social.coop - a really interesting cooperatively owned social media platform. From there I was referred here by @wulee
