open letter to the Franklin County Democratic Party

WP Will Petrik Public Seen by 280

The FCDP Executive Committee is meeting on Thursday, June 23, and they'll be voting on the ward initiative. One Columbus is being lead by Brian Clark (Ginther's Campaign Director) in opposition of the initiative. The Democratic establishment is opposed to transforming City Hall.

An open letter to the FCDP is an opportunity to push back against the Democratic establishment. It's also an opportunity to elevate the issue, help change the discussion to focus on families and neighborhoods, and build more understanding about why the initiative is good for neighborhoods and for the city.

Text:
I've made some substantial edits - trimmed a fair amount, reflowed/rearranged things, and broke the text up into sections. I also tried to soften the parts about city council a bit - making them less about bad councilmembers and more about a broken system.

Ask:
I think that the ask is reasonable. It would be really nice to release this along with announcing a town hall we've organized, so that we can point to it and say basically "See, we're already doing this, and we want you to join us." That might be a big lift by Monday, though.

Strategy:
What's the number of signatures at which we think this is a success? I guess my take on the strategy depends on how close we think we can get to actually looking substantial.
