Granting different members different # of Dots for Weighted Voting.

Each delegate on our council carries a different number of votes from their local to the table. If Dot allowed each member to have a certain number of dots (12 or 7 or 18), so they could apply them to the proposal, that would let us tally results really easily.

Hmm this strikes me as a really difficult thing to code; will you need to input every person's 'weight' with each poll? If so... that's a lot of duplicate input every time. If not... assigning dot vote weight per membership, then being able to override it (what if you want to do then do an actual dot vote where everyone has the same number of dots?)... feels like a lot.

Presumably the delegates know the number of votes they're supposed to cast, and not so corrupt as to want to game the system in this way, so you could make the dots per person equal to the maximum number of delegate votes, and ask each delegate to only cast as many dots as they are supposed to (we do support less-than-maximum dot stances). Then a quick audit of the vote afterwards would be able to ensure that no one's overwielding their authority.

One thing that I might consider here is allowing a 'title' to be associated with a user, so it shows up next to their stance name (as well as when they comment, etc.) In this case, it'd be quite easy to pick out discrepencies like:

Cathy Gilbert - District 9 Delegate (7 votes)
...votes for 9 things...

Great ideas, thanks James! The combo of max dots per person and reminder in title as to how many each member is entitled to, sounds like a good approach. I'm also wondering if we should change our group's voting system so each delegates carries the same number and bigger affiliates just have more delegates.....
