proposal by altruism Closed Thu 13 Sep 2012 1:35PM

Is it not time that Diaspora add ToS and PP documents to joindiaspora.com?

While I agree we can't make podmins post a TOS/PP (unless this were included in a CLA maybe?), why not promote it as a community convention? It promotes good will. Podmins are free to edit, but should possess one that's easy to find and to read.

I have actually already been working on this somewhat. So far I added a couple routes and ERB pages to my pod. I have been trying to learn Rails to be able to populate those pages via a global-variable pulling from the DB or maybe just a local YML

I think a TOS/PP is essential for any site these days. Complicated, yes. Annoying, yes. But essential nonetheless.

That's out of scope of this group IMO.

joindiaspora.com is just a Diaspora installation incidentally run by the founders. Nothing the community has any control about.

Sean, as far as a ToS/PP, I have been told that Diaspora Inc had worked with a privacy expert from Stanford? What happened with those efforts? Could you please comment on this, I would love to see us moving forward also on this issue.

Jonne, I understand your point, but I think it would be great to have a ToS and PP that is not "property" of Diaspora inc but of the COMMUNITY. If I set up a pod tomorrow I would like to have a ToS and a PP, but maybe I do not have the time nor the knowledge to write those documents all by myself.

By the way Jonne, I thinfk most people here (including myself) know that joindiaspora.com is just one Diaspora installation.

And as there is no Diaspora Foundation, not yet, that is why I have to speak in terms of Diaspora Inc and joindiaspora.com. The community is my scope, that is why I am here.
