Draft Policy: Requesting a review

SF Shannon Friday Public Seen by 184

Any eligible show wanting a review must request a review either by sending a press release to or by emailing , or by clicking the “request a review” link on the theatre main page and submitting the requested information no less than 2 weeks before the start of press performances or opening night if no press performances are planned. Requests received less than 2 weeks before the performance to be reviewed will be reviewed if staff are available and at the discretion of Theatreview’s Managing Editor. No show will be reviewed except by request.

Any show requesting a review must supply Theatreview with the following at least 48 hours before the performance they wish to be reviewed:

•2 complimentary tickets to the show (unless extraordinary circumstances limit audience capacity, in which case 1 ticket may be provided, or the event is unticketed, in which case reasonable accommodation should be provided to allow the reviewer to attend),

•Up-to-date production information, including genre, venue, dates, starting time, and booking details,

•Credit listings (in Word or Text please), as per your programme, for:

◦CREATIVES: Writer(s)/Devisers, Director(s)/Choreographers, Designer(s),

*CAST: Actors + roles/Dancers + roles (where relevant), other performers,

◦CREW: Production, Backstage, Admin, Front-of-house, etc, AND

  • A jpeg (or 2) - at least 800 pixels on the longer side, or larger.

  • Note: please avoid images including text and large group shots.

Theatreview will make all reasonable effort to ensure each eligible show that requests a review will receive one, but reviews are staffed as available, and shortfalls may occur. In the event of shortfalls, requested shows for review are staffed at the discretion of Theatreview’s Managing Editor. Requesting a review does not guarantee a show will be reviewed.

Shows will be notified as to who is reviewing their show as soon as practicable. If the show is dissatisfied with the choice of reviewer, they may request another reviewer. The show must give a reason as to why they would prefer another reviewer, such as concerns with previous review quality or a potential conflict of interest. In the event another reviewer is not available, the show has the option of accepting the proposed reviewer or not receiving a review. Any request for an alternate reviewer is decided at the discretion of the Managing Editor, except in the case of a possible conflict of interest by the Managing editor (see “Conflict of Interest” below.)

Any show that has requested a review will be added to the “Coming Up” crawl on the Theatreview main page. Shows wanting to promote on Theatreview that do not want a review can contact about advertising on the site.
