Dear friends and colleagues,

As most of you will know, the countries have now agreed on the final text for the new agenda: Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

First of all, thank you and congratulations to all of you who have worked so hard over the past years for an ambitious and transformative agenda.

Second, we are curious to hear your thoughts and feelings about the final text. Is it ambitious enough? Does it cover the key challenges we face? Does it succeed in bringing people and planet to the center? What is good and what is missing?

Please share your thoughts below!

UPDATE! Here is the final version of 'Transforming our World Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development': https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/content/documents/7891Transforming%20Our%20World.pdf

  • How can we together turn the 2030 Agenda into reality?
  • What steps must be taken to get there?
  • What will be OUR role as a global citizens and civil society?
  • How can we support the work at the national level?

Before we reach the 2030 goals, we, civil societies must accept to be together. But I know that CSOs like work in single way because they think that they are the owner or expert in their areas of expertise. Sometimes they are managed by politics. So, they are CSO in the day and politic in the night. CSO must accept to be very engaged to civil society network. So we can go together without fearing. We must support each other. We must respect each other and the hierarchy.
You know, if CSO are not solid, the ennemy will profit. So we must be clever. We must follow the rules of procedures which can be plan by the HLPF and CIVICUS.
- First step :As a global citizen and CSO, you should identify and nominate competent national CSO representatives, after consultation, to carry national affairs, copy to the government for publication, to ECOSOC and to the national UNDP for consideration. You should nominate some our yours for the global coordination and give power to regional level to do so and national representaives nominated to coordinate local level.
- 2 step: hierarchy (global, regional, national and local) to be clear for everyone.
- 3 step: rules of procedures
- 4 step: financing
- 5 step: Salary range without discrimination
- 6 step: universal templete :
e.g. from oct (1-30) awareness raising, Nov (1-31) data revolution,Dec (1-15) data compilation at regional level, Dec.(16- 25) data compilation at global level, Dec (26-27) meeting with ECOSOC, Dec. (28-31) Meeting with SG.
Rapport must follow this hierarchy: local to national, national to regional and regional to global.
Do not forget to be inclusive: Major groups and DPI-NGO entity to be considerated.
National level support is the key because there are many problems to solve there. e.g.:CSOs trainings, their engagement to work together at national level, Transparency, anti-corruption, politics involvement in SCO spaces, persecution, prison, exiled etc..
You have to create an alert number or email for your information about each case detailled by representatives. A conflits resolution entity must also be created at local level, national level, regional level and global level for litigation affairs.
Thank you Hanna

Dear All,

I write you in french:

Les représentants de la société civile de la RD.CONGO travaillent pour
une cause juste.

Certains travaillent avec la politique à cause de leur soif de
l'argent; mais certains pas.

Il faut reconnaitre aussi que la société civile africaine a un
problème des moyens financiers pour sa bonne marche.
Nous devons nous soutenir mutuellement pour y arriver. Il faudrait
envisager des cotisations ou des financements à rechercher pour mener
à bien nos activités;

Nous prenons acte du plan de Hanna et restons prêts pour le travail.

In English( google translate)

Representatives of civil society RD.CONGO work for a just cause.

Some work with because of their lust for money policy; but some not.

We must also recognize that African civil society has a problem of
financial resources for its proper functioning.
We must support each other to get there. Consideration should be given
contributions or to seek funding to carry out our activities;

We note Hanna plan and remain ready for work.

From Seth Godin:
Sooner or later, the ones who told you that this isn't the way it's done, the ones who found time to sneer, they will find someone else to hassle.

Sooner or later, they stop pointing out how much hubris you've got, how you're not entitled to make a new thing, how you will certainly come to regret your choices.

Sooner or later, your work speaks for itself.

Outlasting the critics feels like it will take a very long time, but you're more patient than they are.

Greetings Everyone !!! I believe Dosse has laid out an excellent step-by-step plan for bringing our ideas and ideals into reality. But I believe that these steps need a formal bureaucratic structure to take place in to provide continuity, facilitate communications, to provide archives for past communications and documentation, to regulate the flow of monies, to provide shared means and tools for communications, record keeping, and taking action, etc., etc., are the many important ways that a formal structure would support our efforts. I am very impressed with the 9 Major Groups, including the NGO Major Group, created by General Assembly resolution just for this purpose (to facilitate the creation of the SDGs). This is a structure already set up and which is looking for a way to move forward beyond this process as it draws to a close (except for the monitoring of the SDG indicators, which must be ongoing). I suggest we discuss merging with that program for the purposes of accomplishing our goals as well as the most worthy goals they have of perpetuating the unprecedented openness, inclusiveness and transparency which has distinguished this amazing Post-2015 Development Agenda, which they were created for originally.

Hi David, that sounds very sensible and the most appropriate way to ensure that the NGO voices continue to be heard in the process. More dynamic and informal processes can occur in parallel to ensure broad and open discussion at the same time.

I agree completely, Dorothy.

So, everyone should we talk about approaching Jeffery Huffines, who is one of two of the head leadership of NGO Major Group about how to join forces? Does anyone have any reservations about this or other ideas? What do you think, Hanna?

This is a noble idea that will surely assist and promote the work of NGO globally and make their voices heard

I think that David is describing a truly actionable idea. Let's explore how we might bring this about and the intentions to be fulfilled by doing it.
