[Newbie] What can I do to help?
Hello, everyone! I'm the new unofficial member you guys were talking about in this thread a couple of days ago. Instead of complaining more (https://social.coop/@marcelle/69678) about the feeling of not belonging to social.coop, I decided to come here and ask what I can do to help. I've never been in a co-op before. In fact, Mastodon was my very first contact with decentralized social media. So, as you guys can imagine, I'm a newbie. I try to keep up with all the conversations, but I always end up feeling lost. Where to start? How can I be of any use?
Hi both, and sorry for the late reply.
It's been a hell of a week for us, witht he #BuyTwitter campaign looming and many updates coming online, so please accept my apologies for the delay.
Thank you @emlc for sharing the links, cooperative education is one of my areas of interest (I'd love to develop a cooperatively run technical school some day) and thank you for being here.

Wow. @emic is such a cool handle :)
Heya Marcelle et al.,
Welcome! I, too, have been trying to figure out my positionality within the community work of social.coop ( http://social.coop ). Your inquiry inspired me to step up towards some cooperative education work...
I've worked in cooperative education for several years and would be willing to meet with you briefly to do some coop peer-learning. I could adapt one of my general workshops into a video training specifically for social.coop ( http://social.coop ), so it might help that process to connect with you and see what you're interested in knowing to guide what content I would include. Let me know if you'd like to link up and we can set up a time offline.
In the meantime, some static resources! I don't know your level of expertise, so forgive me if this stuff is too basic -- you can check out:
- general cooperative video (please be generous in your assessment :) - I made it what feels like a very long time ago, also, burning man): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmgYv3K3gMY
- full on curriculum that focuses on entrepreneurship but includes general cooperative education in the initial sections here: northcountryfoundation.org/collectingourselves ( http://northcountryfoundation.org/collectingourselves ) (sorry, that site does not have SSL protection).
And - if anyone else is into cooperative education and would want to collaborate, please let me know!
In cooperation - EMLC
