v0.5 Design Update

EEK Eugene Eric Kim Public Seen by 13

In the interest of transparency and openness, I'm going to start shifting discussion away from private email into this discussion group.

We have an internal deadline of first-pass assigning values to mindsets by EOD tomorrow (Tuesday). Amy will also have mockups for the v0.5 design by EOD tomorrow.

I've taken a first pass at reorganizing the spreadsheet, making some of the values checkboxes. For now, please add new values to the old Values column, and I'll review and incorporate them into checkboxes as appropriate.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use Loomio for this sort of thing. Ideally, I'd love to have had a separate poll for each element of the mockup we need to decide, which would have enabled us to get to quick consensus on two of the points and continue discussing the third (blocks versus thought bubbles). Still, I think this will work for now.

Where are we with the spreadsheet?

Also, can folks weigh in on the behavior/values/mindset definitions? any feedback, but esp. the language (there are variations)

It doesn't look like there have been any changes to the spreadsheet beyond the structural changes I made earlier this week. I need to go through the actual definitions and corresponding values.

Amy, are you asking if you can give feedback, or are you asking for others to give feedback? The answer to both is yes!

Eck! Did I miss the deadline? what happens to this comment since I did? Anyways, Just wanted to comment I prefer the first mock-up if it's not too late. I find the head (instead of the thought bubble) on the back to actually be distracting! I prefer the thought bubble on the back with the color blocks for the mindsets. It's clean, it's visually appealing, and I don't get distracted by other thoughts. When I see the "dude" I don't think mindsets: I think anatomy, I think biology, etc. Not a big deal, but the thought bubble feels more accurate, purer, and less distracting. My two, convoluted, late to the game cents!

I'll defer to Amy on this one. The reason I voted for the second mockup was that I liked the thought bubble on the front. But if we're not going to use the thought bubble on the front, definitely okay with it being on the back.

Your timing is perfect, as Amy's going to lay out the cards tomorrow. Rebecca, I see that you created a production schedule / decision making thread. I'll post some more extensive comments there.

(sorry, loomio wouldn't let me attach directly here)
I changed the wording on a couple of the cards for fit or grammar. The changes are noted in the spreadsheet with blue highlight. Please respond with corrections by 10 am today (8/27). Thanks!

Woohoo! @amywu, these are beautiful, as always.

In addition to this, really appreciate all of the last minute editorial contributions from you, @rebeccapetzel, and @kristincobble. The mindsets themselves feel strong, and we're testing some interesting design hypotheses in this go-around.

Proofs go to the printer today, decks will be available next week!
