We need to encourage teamwork.
I would love to play in my league team for the tournament though unfortunately I'm unable to.
I encourage and expect all teams, (league or otherwise) to play together as much as possible to develop their dynamic.

As we're expecting a small tournament I'd prefer a laid back fun attitude - teams promote more tension and competitiveness

So what's the outcome?

I'm assuming the block was meant as a disagree, which means the proposal didn't pass. So league teams will be allowed.

No, block is stronger than disagree.

My apologies for the incorrect assumption.
League is a great way to encourage team work, but I don't think that disallowing league teams for the tournament discourages team work. It simply means you need to learn to play with a different team, which if anything will improve players skills and teach different kinds of team work.
I feel that newer players forming teams with more experienced players is one of the best ways to improve team work. We encouraged this at the previous tournament and it worked well.
Experienced players are able to give good and timely advice on the court; encouraging newer players not to go two deep, to look for space, to make and receive passes, and to rotate and protect the goal. Things which a team of new players can easily overlook.
Running an individual tournament (wheel of mis-fortune style) actively discourages team work and promotes selfish play and we should avoid doing this too much, though there are other benefits to be had from this style of tournament so we shouldn't stop doing them altogether.

The point of the league is to foster better team play in Melbourne, disallowing them in tournaments discourages this. I don't see how you can't have fun in a tournament in your league teams. It has no bearing on league points so takes away any competitive edge. It would be a real shame to impede the good work of the league and to not allow them on principle. [Sad Face]
