I love the idea of using unique sounds and did indeed add a lot of animal sounds to my library as a result of Amandasm's suggestion before the event.

But I had some problems making use of them. I initially tried just a unique sound on the hour. It provoked some odd looks but didn't seem to be getting anywhere near understanding as a clock. So I changed to using Westminster Chimes as an intro and the animal sounds as hour counts.

That wasn't great either - the chimes were a bit distorted and unpleasant to listen to, and some of the animal sounds hard to hear.

It may be that the church clock concept (loud, but far away) only really works with a bell. Timed animal sounds could be less intrusive but would need multiple speakers, I think. That's not impossible but a lot more expensive. I'll look into it.

In the meantime, other criticisms, suggestions and solutions much appreciated. Even if they're months down the line.

I'd also appreciate the involvement of anyone who'd like to develop and curate sounds. The ones I grabbed off web-based sound effect sites were of very variable quality.

Adrian, can you point me in the direction of where you acquired the rechargeable batteries?

I have an idea for an art project for next year but it will require power for speakers/maybe lights.

Hi Daniel,
I got them from a mobility scooter supplier on ebay (discountmobilityscooterbatteries), who claimed to have a good price because of overstock. Unlikely to be true due to the range of sizes available, but they were a good price for the capacity (£127 for 2 x 40Ah AGM, delivered) and seem to be decent quality. I had estimated £40 each for a couple of 18Ah, so contributed a bit extra to the art grant to get a lot more capacity.

All Arts Performance Closed Fri 14 Jun 2019 9:01AM

The All Arts Performance project would require various nestlers artists to come together and cooperate in creating a synchronised presence of music, visual art, figurative art like paintings and dance performance. Open to suggestions re theme. My idea would be to focus on the theme/element of water, scarcety of water and implications of abundance or lack of it on the planet.

Hey @red14 I'm not sure what you want people to vote on? The purpose of a "proposal" is to see if the group can collectively agree on something. But you don't need collective agreement to start organising a creative project for Nest. Just start! Perhaps you'll get more interaction from others about your idea if you start your own new thread asking for people to show interest and offer their talents?

Hiya Guess I am not clear about where best to start a thread about an art project and check whether anyone would like to contribute with their talents ? Is it a specific platform sorry new to this platform

@red14 Go to the Art & Creativity at Nest page and click the "new thread" button to start a new thread within that group. I'd also recommend going to the main Burning Nest group page and checking out the top post called "How to use Loomio" to learn more about how it works.
