Now the first thing we might need to decide is : what is the best moment in UTC time to gather all of us ? I think I understood european folks are in UTC + (1 or 2), while Bob is in UTC-8 and Julie UTC+10 . For instance today's meeting started at theses times :
* UTC = 09:00
* UTC+1 = 10:00
* UTC-8 = 01:00 (1am)
* UTC+10 = 19:00

Actually in 10 days, I have something scheduled for three days. So I have to check it can be changed. But that doesn't hold us from starting a proposal for "Time poll".

D

Poll Created Sat 10 Mar 2018 11:40AM

Next meeting around 2018.03.20 Closed Mon 12 Mar 2018 11:01AM

Outcome
by Dieudonné Sat 17 Mar 2018 8:32AM

The date gathering the most of us is March 23, 8:00am my time, which will still be UTC+1. The date for time change from UTC+1 to UTC+2 will be during the night from 24th to 25th. So the meeting time will be March 23, 7:00 UTC. At least four of us (including me) said they can be at that meeting time. Warmly Dieudonné

This poll is to give it a try with relatively "decent" hours for everyone. I ticked the option "Voters may add options", in case it can be helpful.

I would probably be able to make each of the other days work, too, at least if we cut the time to 90 minutes. I's would have to move later meetings a bit, but would be willing to do so, if other days fit everyone.

BW

Bob W Sat 17 Mar 2018 2:43AM

I would like to be clear on the outcome. Because the time is midnight for me (which I am willing to do), I'm not 100% clear on whether the date 3/20/2018 (I think) - does that mean the end of 3/20 for me? or the beginning? I am thinking the beginning? Is that right? I can make this, but I'd like to get it on my calendar correctly.

J

Julie Sat 17 Mar 2018 4:14AM

Bob, I think it was set for 23rd ... the "20th" date was simply an approximate that we began with. I notice when i look at the summary of that "decision", it's not clear what date was intended, until I click on "edit outcome" and see that's it's the 23rd. Bit confusing.

E

Eva Sat 17 Mar 2018 7:21AM

I understood it to be Friday 23rd, too. (the 20th was just in the title of the poll, wasn't it?)

D

Dieudonné Sat 17 Mar 2018 8:36AM

Sorry about the confusing title I choose for this poll. The meeting time gathering the most numerous of us in this poll is : March 23, 7:00 UTC. Will you be able to be there Bob ?

BW

Bob W Sat 17 Mar 2018 8:55PM

Yes. It's not ideal, since it will be midnight for me and I may need to be up early in the morning. But, I expect to be able to be there.

D

Dieudonné Mon 19 Mar 2018 6:14AM

Maybe we could adjust that meeting time on hour earlier ? Any objection ?

E

Elkie Mon 19 Mar 2018 6:27AM

The 23rd march, friday at 7 UTC, 8 CET is fine for me. I can also do an hour earlier if that is easier for Bob. Warm wishes, elkie

J

Julie Mon 19 Mar 2018 7:18PM

1 hour earlier is fine for me too

i've been googling open-source alternatives to Skype/Zoom, and came across this one ... maybe we could try it out for our next meeting? https://meet.jit.si/PreVirtualHome
(I created a video conference called PreVirtualHome) ... I think it just works whenever we click on that link, we don't have to have someone own it or start it.

D

Dieudonné Tue 20 Mar 2018 9:15AM

I know Jitsi, but my experiences with it hasn't been completely satisfactory so far. However it might be satisfactory for us next time ; )

It's one of the alternatives indicated on this page :
* https://degooglisons-internet.org/alternatives?l=en

To give you an idea of how far this approach can go, they are working on an alternative to youtube : PeerTube.
* https://github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube/blob/develop/README.md

E

Eva Tue 20 Mar 2018 7:31AM

I am available an hour earlier, too.
Julie, thanks for the open source alternative to Zoom. I'd love to try it out. (Just now I could easily connect.)

J

Julie Thu 22 Mar 2018 9:34AM

So where are we meeting tomorrow? Zoom or on the demo site?

D

Dieudonné Thu 22 Mar 2018 10:58AM

Which ever you prefer, with the other one as backup. Bob, you confirm it's easier for you, one hour earlier than initially planned ? It would then be 23rd march, friday at 6 UTC, 7 CET. That is tomorrow morning for us.

D

Dieudonné Thu 22 Mar 2018 11:01AM

BW

Bob W Fri 23 Mar 2018 5:55AM

Yes, it's easier meeting earlier. Sorry to be so very tardy to respond. Which video technology are we using?

D

Dieudonné Fri 23 Mar 2018 5:59AM

No decision has been clearly formulated.

I suggest :

Eva Sat 24 Mar 2018 8:46AM

Hello all, regarding the next meetings... Elkie would like to find a regular time and meet with whoever is available at that time. For that, I'd like to suggest Friday 5am UTC (kind of like yesterday, it is just that we are switching to european summer time on this weekend) every two weeks. How would that work for you all?
However, I'd love to invite Uma to a call, and that time is in the middle of the night for her. So, for the next meeting on April 6th, I'd like to suggest 7pm UTC instead - if and only if Uma would join then, because this is really early for Julie. I have asked Uma and will let you know her response. It might be easier for Julie and Uma to connect on their own ;-)

Friday April 6th, 5am or 7pm UTC
Friday April 20th, 5am UTC
Friday Mai 4th, 5am UTC

Comments/objections? How does that sound to you?

D

Dieudonné Sat 24 Mar 2018 12:21PM

All theses times are ok for me too.

E

Elkie Sun 8 Apr 2018 10:33AM

Hi Eva, Thanks so much for setting this up. At the meeting today (08 April) the people on the call (ED, JL, DD, BW) agreed that Sundays at 6am UTC, 8 am Europe, 11 pm Sat (Bob) and 4pm (Julie) works for everyone. The group is comfortable meeting every two weeks until a new decision has been made about frequency.

Would this proposal work for you too?
We also chatted briefly about how to facilitate Uma joining a meeting. I suggested that a part of the group meet with Uma on a different time and occasion and that they bring Uma's input back to us. If Uma becomes a permanent member of this group, then we need to bring meeting times back to the agenda and find times that work for the new constellation. I can also imagine, as/if the Group grows in time, that it divides organically across themes and/or time zones and that we begin to define roles more clearly so that we don't need to be together all of the time.

Anyway, the proposal now is to meet every two weeks on a Sunday at 8 am Europe starting on Sunday 22nd April. (after that it would be 6th May, 20th May, 03 June, 17 june, 01 july. I suggest that we plan the July 1st meeting as an evaluation, group feedback, and 'how further' meeting.

Would you let me know how this lands with you and if you have any strong objections to any point?

warmest wishes to all,

Elkie

Brent Barker Sun 8 Apr 2018 3:40PM

This would be 1:00am for me in Chicago. I would probably go to sleep around 11p then get up for the meeting. This is doable for me for a once-every-two-weeks meeting.

J

Julie Sat 24 Mar 2018 9:51AM

I can do any of those times.

E

Eva Tue 3 Apr 2018 8:30AM

Hey all, Uma can not join on Friday, so I suggest to meet at the early time, 5am UTC (7am CEST). I may not be able to be there for more than an hour.

E

Elkie Tue 3 Apr 2018 8:38AM

Hi everyone,

I am training on Friday so will be unable to join this one.

I could do Saturday or Sunday. And am content to miss one if everyone else can attend.

xx elkie

D

Dieudonné Tue 3 Apr 2018 8:40AM

Also ok for Saturday or Sunday

J

Julie Tue 3 Apr 2018 9:19AM

I can do Friday or Sunday xx

E

Eva Tue 3 Apr 2018 12:50PM

I could do Sunday, too.

BW

Bob W Fri 6 Apr 2018 4:25AM

So, is there a decision as to date? The Friday date is in about 2-1/2 hours; I can likely do that. While I can probably do Sunday, it's a bit more in-the-middle-of-things for me.

E

Eva Fri 6 Apr 2018 5:04AM

I had planned for sunday now...

J

Julie Fri 6 Apr 2018 5:04AM

Either date works for me.

So Eva, what time Sunday? Xx

--- tech support for the revolution

BW

Bob W Fri 6 Apr 2018 5:36AM

Ok

E

Eva Fri 6 Apr 2018 5:42AM

Our 7 am? That is 5am UTC. Sorry for the mixup. In my mind it was clear, but I didn't communicate a decision. I also have a problem with wifi access here. The hotel advertises free wifi, but it is really slow (I can barely type). I don't know if I get that resolved until Sunday... if not, I'll try to join by phone.

E

Elkie Fri 6 Apr 2018 11:29AM

Thanks eva...

i will be there at 7 am on sundat morning

Xx elkie

J

Julie Fri 6 Apr 2018 12:13PM

So just checking, 5am UTC, so 3pm my time I think ... See you all there xx

BW

Bob W Sat 7 Apr 2018 7:27AM

5am UTC (7am CEST) is 10pm here which, strangely, is earlier than ideal for me. I'll be out for the evening to an event that starts at 8pm and I don't know precisely when I'll be getting home. An hour later (or even a half hour later) would be better for me. Not that you couldn't meet without me. And, I'm wondering if there is anyone that later wouldn't work for?

D

Dieudonné Sat 7 Apr 2018 7:33AM

I'm fine with idea of staying in bed one hour more on a sunday morning

E

Elkie Sat 7 Apr 2018 7:55AM

me too! :-) 90 minutes later works for me.

That would make it 08.30 am for Eva, Dieudonne, Erik and Eva in my understanding. That works great for me! I have a heavy training week coming up again... xxx elkie

J

Julie Sat 7 Apr 2018 7:59AM

later is also fine/good for me.

--- tech support for the revolution

E

Eva Sat 7 Apr 2018 6:18PM

hmmm sigh. I have another appointment at 9:00, which needs a bit of a break before to connect with myself. I'd love it if you would meet without me, just this once. Next time I'll be home again with reliable internet. Then you can meet at 8. And for me it is more relaxed, too.

E

Elkie Sat 7 Apr 2018 7:53PM

OK! xxx

J

Julie Sun 8 Apr 2018 2:54AM

OK, so still some confusion ... Elkie suggested 8:30 am, but then Eva said 8 am (but that she wouldn't be there). It sounds like everyone else wants later, so shall I make the call and say 8:30 am (i.e. 6:30 am UTC, so 4:30 pm for me, and 11:30 pm for Bob). Hoping I've got all that right! Who will be sending out the Zoom link?

xx

E

Elkie Sun 8 Apr 2018 4:42AM

Hi wveryone,

I am happy to send a zoom link 15 mins before the call.

Warm wishes,

Elkie

BW

Bob W Sun 8 Apr 2018 6:07AM

Hmmm... Ok. Was ready at my 11:00, but can live with 11:30. As far as Zoom #.. Who does the pinned Zoom number above (https://zoom.us/j/3530683460) belong to? We could just use that, insofar as it's the "normal" Zoom number for this group. Though, if it's Eva's number, we won't be able to record the call, if that's important to anyone. Guess I'm open either way.

J

Julie Sun 8 Apr 2018 6:12AM

Elkie emailed everyone this: My zoom room number is: 665-320-4835. I will open the room at 10 mins before meeting time. 08.20 NL.

E

Elkie Sun 8 Apr 2018 9:10PM

Ah...thanks for this info Brent.

I am sure that we would all be willing to look for two times. So once a month the time is that proposed and once a month a time that works better for you and probably for some other people who would enjoy getting involved like my colleague Uma Lo.

Would a time in the morning work for you? And if so, how early is the most acceptable time?

Great to meet you :-) Just for clarity...I have almost no tech knowledge as you may have guessed :-) I am a member of the IMplementation Council who was excited by the idea of supporting this part of the plan being manifested in the world :-)

Very wArmest wishes,

Elkie

Hi Brent and welcome! Lovely to have you on board :-)

I'm Julie, in Brisbane Australia, and I have moderate tech skills - a degree in IT from 24 years ago, and mostly parenting since then, plus playing with WordPress. I've been building a temporary site to try things out for the "pre-virtual home", based on WordPress and buddypress.

Looking forward to meeting you online soon :-)

Cheers

Hi Elkie and Julie! Glad to be here, hopefully I can find enough time to be helpful here. Elkie, we spoke once before after I took notes for an IntC meeting.

For me, in Chicago, generally on Saturdays I am available between 12:30p and 11:00p (Sat 17:30 to Sun 04:00 UTC). On Sundays I can do 8a to 9p (Sun 13:00 to Mon 02:00 UTC).
