Online livestream discussion with coop/finance experts

MS Mai Sutton Public Seen by 99

In addition to having an in-person event at or near the Twitter HQ about this, what about we organize an online discussion about how we'd move forward with legal and finance experts so that anyone around the world could watch it and participate?

+1! Could benefit from a Twitter contest of some kind, like what @ntnsndr suggested

I'd be happy to schedule a Google Hangout On Air. Anyone want to propose a more detailed scope of conversation/agenda? What are this conversation's desired outputs?

SF

Suresh Fernando Fri 21 Oct 2016 2:35AM

This seems useful. I'd be interested in participating and can help frame the conversation. Let's see if consensus builds around this idea.

Me too. IMHO we need to explore ways in which a Twitter Staff Co-op may partner with a Twitter User Co-op. If all we use is conventional structures and instruments all we'll get is conventional crap results.

Has this happened already? Is there an effort to schedule such a meeting? Would definitely be a great idea.

@mairasutton are you taking the lead on this?

MC

Matthew Cropp Sun 30 Oct 2016 4:28PM

As I mentioned above, I'd be happy to set up the hangout stuff and participate, and could push it out on the Co-op Water Cooler networks (we've been aiming to do more live video conversations, in any case).

Perhaps a good next step would be doodling a mutually agreeable time for 3-5 people interested in the conversation, then scheduling the call, put the word out, and develop a rough conversation agenda?

Who else is interested in participating? I would assume @mairasutton [email protected], given the former started the thread and the latter expressed interest in participating. Who else?

MS

Mai Sutton Sun 30 Oct 2016 7:46PM

Sounds good @matthewcropp, I'd be happy to co-organize.

MC

Matthew Cropp Sun 30 Oct 2016 8:24PM

@mairasutton Awesome! Do you want to put heads together by hangout first to discuss the parameters of the agenda, and then put the doodle out for the date of the recorded conversations? I should be available tomorrow or tuesday mornings (before 11:30 EST), if either of those might work for you?

John Richmond Sun 30 Oct 2016 8:43PM

Sounds very interesting. I would love to participate. Twitter workers and users and other stakeholders could form a multi-stakeholder co-op. I've had some experience with this and it is a model with a longer track record in Quebec (next door).

I think @tommcdonough and @chriscook1 should be on this as well.

However, if you intend to record it and use it as a kind of communication instrument - very useful! - I think it would be good if participants from our group had a rather aligned opinion/approach to put forward. Thus, it might be useful to have a private call with the same group first.

MS

Mai Sutton Sun 30 Oct 2016 8:52PM

@matthewcropp @thomaseuler1 I agree. Could we organize a "private" planning call Mon/Tues — "private" meaning it's open to anyone here — before we make it a recorded, public discussion? In addition to @chriscook1 @tommcdonough, we should have @ntnsndr on the planning call as well.

Monday & Tuesday are good

MC

Matthew Cropp Sun 30 Oct 2016 8:57PM

How's about tentatively 10am-11am EST on Tuesday? If that works, I'll post a link to the hangout in this thread.

That's pretty much the one slot that day I can't do. PM your time would be better (I'm EST +4 hrs at the moment)

I could potentially do something pre-dinner (4 or 5pm EST)?

Sorry about that; time-zones are the bane of international organizing. :P

Rough notes linked to below, and I created a new loomio thread for aggregating suggestions for potential panelists with deep knowledge of either co-op finance or conversions.
