November 2014 Newsletter

TO Tom Oliveri Public Seen by 70

I've exported the contacts and sorted them for duplicates.

What is our course of action, I recall discussion regarding the following questions;

Who are the first group to receive the newsletter?
How many people will receive it initially?
Will there be versions of the newsletter that vary for our party members / newsletter subscriber groups?

How should the contacts be organized in the end?

Re then combine the 410 updated foundation members with the 438 P_Members which will equal 848.- Most o these should be duplicates – the number in this list should be not much more than 500, otherwise something is wrong

I've read through this a few times I still don't understand how you would like the lists to look.

This is going to take me many hours to compile the lists and de-dupe so i'd rather not have to do it again when the next newsletter is being organized.

Also, if there's someone in P_members, foundation members and newsletter subscribers, which copy should we keep?

Can we for a moment forget how the lists look at the moment and look at how they SHOULD look?
I just dread the thought that I'll go through the process, get to the end and it'll either have to be done again or it won't have been done the way you want.

@tomoliveri You probably have the best idea of how the lists should look. I trust your judgement on what will be best.

@tomoliveri
"Also, if there’s someone in P_members, foundation members and newsletter subscribers, which copy should we keep?"

Good question! if there is someone in all three - then we will need them to remain in two groups but not three..(we MUST keep the info/duplicate in BOTH the PARTY MEMBERS group AND the NEWSLETTER group - as they obviously want to be in BOTH groups.). (ok i see your point - this is a bit complicated!)

so, STEP ONE:

Create a contact list entitled “PARTY MEMBERS 2007-2013” and combine:
- the 438 "P-MEMBERS" with
- the 410 “UPDATED FOUNDATION MEMBERS 2012".
* That would equal a total of 848 contacts.
* Then run a duplicate check and DELETE ANY duplicates.
* Then tell us how many in total remain.

STEP TWO:

Create a contact list entitled "COMBINED LIST 2007-2013" and combine:
- the 295 "CONTACT" list with
- the 66 "GET INVOLVED" list &
- the 818 "WES LIST 1" &
- the 34 "MAJOR ISSUE" &
- the 29 "2013 SOL TEAM"
* which will equal a total of 1,242 contacts in "COMBINED LIST 2007-2013".
* Then run a duplicate check & DELETE ANY duplicates & then tell us how many remain.

STEP THREE:

Create a contact list entitled "NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS 2007-2013" and combine:
- the 448 "NEWSLETTER" list with
- the 1,077 "OLD SUBSCRIBERS" list
* which would equal a total of 1,525 contacts in "NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS 2007-2013".
* Then run a duplicate check & DELETE ANY duplicates & then tell us how many remain.

that should be it.... i tried to think about it carefully - just as you have done... i hope that sounds right... let me know if that makes more sense to you. And thanks for trying to do this - its going to be a bugger of a job... if we stuff it up - well - i don't think anyone will mind too much... we have tried our hardest to tackle the problem.

Cheers Oliver.
