Using Jabber as an alternative to Telegram

NAJ Nitesh A Jain Public Seen by 4

As of now we have around 196 members on the telegram group just short by 4 of the maximum allowed by telegram.
Also telegram is a centralized service provided by only one entity which uses some non-free server side technology.
The alternative i propose is Jabber which is distributed and can be self-hosted. Jabber is an open technology for IM. Since it is an open technology participants can use any client which supports XMPP like pigdin, thunderbird, etc to connect to it.
Currently I have setup a group [email protected].

People can signup on any server they want or even host one.

There is also an android app for Jabber with easy to use UI.

Twitter Accounts To Follow Closed Wed 26 Nov 2014 3:00PM

Hi All,

Since we are trying to keep the Twitter account active henceforth, we are proposing that active Twitter users suggest accounts to follow, where we can obtain information useful to FOSS based events or FOSS related news which our followers might be interested to read about once we tweet/retweet about it.

Guidelines to follow while suggesting:
1) Do not suggest accounts that are inactive (not being used for over a few months)
2) If you like a friend of yours, do not suggest their account to increase their followers count unless they are FOSS enthusiast, regularly posting events related to FOSS.
3) Kindly update the accounts on the link provided below and not on Telegram/Mailing List/Personal Message to the Admins etc.

If you wish to suggest accounts to follow, kindly post it on the following link:

Hoping to give you the best Twitter experience from our end.

Cheers,
Twitter Admins :P
