And now I can explain that I thought Javier would only buy the domain name and I started working on the blog initiative.place whithout knowing that Javier would create also a blog on P2PF server... So now we just have to choose where the final website should be hosted (I don't care).
Frédéric Sultan Sat 9 Jul 2016 3:52PM
For me it will be better to host the blog in P2PF server with the right domain name and move the contents in it.

Hey Julien,
Sorry about the confusing comments - the domain name on the pad was just to share our idea. It wasn’t bought in advance - it was meant to be followed up on. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Nicole
Maïa Dereva Sun 10 Jul 2016 7:46PM
OK, the first version of the site is online at the URL http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/ (and the old URL was deleted).
@fredericsultan you have an account to modify the contents (Stacco and Javier also)
Do we have a specific e-mail address for the contact link ?
Maïa Dereva Sun 10 Jul 2016 7:53PM
The logo is a proposal coming from the french one : http://assembleedescommuns.org/
Frédéric Sultan Wed 13 Jul 2016 12:52PM
Hi @maiadereva1, thanks for the proposal.
For me the baseline of the logo does't match. The process is more about solidarity between commoners and politicisation than governance of the commons. Pehaps it will be better to discuss some proposals and validate or confirme them in the list of discussion (also because less than 15 people are already in loomio) before to publish it in the website.
Maïa Dereva Wed 13 Jul 2016 1:34PM
Sure @fredericsultan , everything is a draft on this site and should be discussed and modified. Anyway, I deleted the baseline.

Stacco Troncoso Thu 14 Jul 2016 1:35PM
Hello friends, I'd like to give my feedback on the very impressive website draft @maiadereva1 has put together. These are my proposals for modifications/additions. Everything I don't mention basically looks great to me. I will number my comments to facilitate discussion
Modifications
- ** 1) Lead image** I would overlay "European Commons Assembly + whatever subtitle is chosen" in dropshadow with high visibility/legibility over the background image.
- ** 2) Start button** Needs to be fully visible. Bigger/bolder font
- 3) "Lined-paper" background I personally dislike it and would go with a plain white or light grey background. I'm fine with using the same textured stock-grey-paper background, but without the school lines.
- ** 4) "Call for a European Commons Assembly" and other headers** Need to be bigger and bolder.
- ** 5) Main body font** I would change the font to a bigger and more legible serif type.
- ** 6) Bolding important subheadings/concepts** I think that standout sentences such as "Our experiences of commoning", "As commoners:" and "We call for" should be bolded.
- ** 7) Margins** I think we need much bigger margins to center the text. Think of the dimensions it would have if there was a sidebar, that'd be the optimum for legibility. Take a the average dimensions for Medium post, for example.
- ** 8) Blog preview in Landing page** I think this is fine, but we have to think about how many posts to limit it to, if we want a "Read more", to show extracts, etc. TBD.
- ** 9) Blog posts/Dynamic content** (See here for example** Same suggestions as for the Landing page regarding background, font and spacing. I'd also make the default titles bigger and bolder. I'd get rid of "Archives" in the sidebar.
- ** 10) Language** Rather than have the FR version be displayed under the "Call for a European Commons Assembly" tab, I'd make another Tab/dropdown with ENG/FR/ES etc.
Additions
- 11) Partners I guess we need a grid to list partner organizations (Logo + hyperlink)
- 12) Resources/Wiki We need to feature an intuitive way to get to the wiki. (Also within the sidebar in blogposts etc)
- ** Lucky 13! Sign the Call!** We need a signatures plug in or box for people to sign as individuals and/or organizations. This could, perhaps, be places under the call itself in the front page.
There are also some tweaks (the contact form, hyperlinks in nav bar) that need looking at. Most of these UX/aesthetic suggestions are totally subjective of course, so let's discuss this.
Maïa Dereva Thu 14 Jul 2016 3:49PM
I agree with all your suggestions @staccotroncoso
I proposed this draft with the idea of Agile software development principles : "Quickly realize something operational, and then improve it".
So now the work really begins ;)
And I think maybe we should use another WP theme (why not the P2PF one ?) because that free one risks to be too much limited to make improvements.

Stacco Troncoso Thu 14 Jul 2016 4:48PM
I think that we should include Javier, the P2PF's sys admin and backed manager in this group, as he may be able to tweak the existing theme and make whichever changes are approved by the group. Dear @maiadereva1 what are you referring to when you say "The P2PF WP theme"? The landing site or the blog? The former isn't a WP-theme and would need as much tweaking as what you've built. The second isn't really suitable for scroller websites. For that I'd be better to use the theme we used for the CSG site.
Maïa Dereva Thu 14 Jul 2016 5:26PM
Yes, let's invite Javier if he is ok to help !
I was thinking about the landing site but OK, I understand why it's not a good idea.
What is the URL of the CSG site ?

Stacco Troncoso Thu 14 Jul 2016 7:45PM
Maïa Dereva Fri 22 Jul 2016 4:19PM
Is anybody working on the installation of a wiki ?
If no :
Should the wiki be hosted on the P2PF server too ? => I can contact Javier
Or I can ask the french team and install a wiki too, tell me.

sophie Tue 13 Sep 2016 12:46PM
Hi Maia, you might have seen we are having a coordinated publication of the call on Monday
It would be goof to have the website ready then. We discussed it in the communications call yesterday, and basically we think it would be best if we give the content a haircut- so remove quite a bit of it.
Would you be able to do this or should I contact someone else?

sophie Tue 13 Sep 2016 12:50PM
What would be good to have is obviously the call, the signatories to the call.
I think we could lift another piece of text out of the hackpad somewhere to discuss the process , as well as the part on the Assembly in Brussels there is some better text.
The link to the hackpad would be better to remove, as this is our internal communication
Not sure otherwise, this is what came out of the cal. others might have suggestions as wel.
cheers, sophie
Maïa Dereva Tue 13 Sep 2016 1:20PM
Hi @sophie40
it's OK for me to help you to modify the contents. I added the signatures and deleted the mention to the PAD. Just tel me if something else is needed.
I also created you an account so you can connect and change it by yourself if you prefer (you should receive an email).

sophie Tue 13 Sep 2016 6:28PM
hi maia, great thanks!
I am not a so good with websites/wordpress, I could try.
Let me look up the texts I mentioned and I will share.

sophie Thu 15 Sep 2016 1:07PM
First of all: it's really great that we have a such a nice website and that we have the basics there ! With david we put some content together for the website that should be more representative and telling that what is currently on it. Unfortunately I did not manage to edit the website myself.
I made suggestions for the headings and than also for content.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1udxcxtNu80ukUcBfi2IDeZLkVgQajjaFKM1w0Hw91sA/edit?ts=57d97668
It might als be good to give info on the Commons Intergroup, MEPs, activities, and maybe some examples with linkes around Europe, RURBAN, energy coops, Guifinet, Teatro Vallle of Rome, Community Water, creative commons, ...
We could also include a varied bibliography: Bollier, Bauwens, Mattei, ...
Also the agenda of the 16th.
And a plan for the future of ECA
It would be great if everyone could help with this. Not sure how to get this going!
Sophie
Maïa Dereva Thu 15 Sep 2016 1:26PM
Hi @sophie40 :)
I can't access the document, I've sent a request...

Nicole Leonard Fri 16 Sep 2016 8:54AM
Hi Sophie same here, I requested access. I've got a bit of experience with WordPress (not much) but I could give it a stab.. let me know if you think I should have access to the site.

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 7:25AM
So, in the end I'm also having trouble navigating the WordPress formatting @maiadereva. I will need your help this week getting it ready for Monday. Are you available?

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 7:27AM
What do we think about the current logo? Are we happy with it? Not sure we have time for a new one before Monday.
Is there a higher resolution version I can use for the Twitter?
Thanks,
Nicole

Poll Created Tue 20 Sep 2016 7:32AM
We keep the same logo Closed Thu 22 Sep 2016 7:01AM
We are going ahead with current logo unless something comes up! @Maia is there anyway you can push to see the new versions before the end of the day tomorrow?? (Even this weekend....) It would be a shame if they already exists and we don't know about it.
There was some talk about changing but I think it's fine and with not much time left it would be good to move on! (@maiadereva if you have higher resolution too that would be great).

Wed 21 Sep 2016 3:46PM
I have to say that I'm not a fan of this logo and think it would be nice to propose something to everybody on the ECA list. But I understand if we're in a rush... If we want one for later I can ask several people if they can make proposals…
Maïa Dereva Tue 20 Sep 2016 8:55AM
Hi @nicoleleonard , yes I will be availaible this week to help for the site.
About the logo, I asked Fanny 3 days ago to work on it and to give us a high resolution version. I hope it will be soon.
Maïa Dereva Tue 20 Sep 2016 9:33AM
@nicoleleonard : I've changed the texts of the site, using the new ones from the google doc. Tell me if it's OK or if you need something else.

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 10:25AM
Great, thank you Maia. I have more points to add/things to clarify:
1. There have been more signatories to the call: VECAM (France), Xnet, DOME PROJECT, Daniela Festa, jurist and urban geographer, Remix the commons, Ugo Matei Professor at The International University College of Turin, and Institute for Solidarity Economics, Oxford, UK. This leads me to...
2. It would be good to link to the Call in a way that 1) allows more people to sign and 2) shows the signatures as they come in. It's kind of like what we have with hackpad, so maybe we can link there, or we can find a petition-hosting platform.
3. We need at least one link to toggle the call to French, and eventually other languages!
4. We need more human imagery. We should add Lucas' video at least.
5. The email address is almost set up and should be easily accessible: contact@europeancommonsassembly.eu ; we should also have our twitter handle @CommonsAssembly (and I may go create a Facebook Page because social media is a big deal!)
6. I worry "save the date" is too vague as a title - if someone is quickly looking for information on Brussels they won't know where to find it and will need to scroll through a lot of content.
7. I also think the link to join the mailing list is a bit hidden/buried. Overall I think we need to make the site a bit more inviting for people to participate and to get info. But we are getting there.

sophie Tue 20 Sep 2016 10:33AM
I agree, looking much better but more to be done. Great suggestions Nicole. Did Lucas send his video?
Vitalie has translations in Russian and Bulgarian If I am correct. There is a translation in Spanish, David did.

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 12:08PM
Maïa Dereva Tue 20 Sep 2016 1:19PM
I added the new signatures and a link to the french call.
Where can I find the texts in other languages?
About the video: the file is too large to be uploaded on the blog. So we can see with @staccotroncoso if he can upload it on the P2P server or create a youtube account.
I noticed to do:
- find a tool for collecting signatures (anybody has an idea?)
- add Twitter account on the site

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 1:26PM
- I assume there are wordpress petition plug ins? https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/tags/petition
http://www.bestplugins.com/articles/wordpress-petition-plugin
2. Twitter account should be pretty easy, it already exists: @CommonsAssembly. Usually there's a way to put the little blue bird sign with the handle next to it.

Nicole Leonard Tue 20 Sep 2016 1:28PM
Speak out seems best: https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/speakout/faq/
Maïa Dereva Tue 20 Sep 2016 6:33PM
Yep, but I don't have the rights for installing new plugins :)
@staccotroncoso ?

Stacco Troncoso Tue 20 Sep 2016 6:58PM
Heya! I've just told Javier to join this group, so you can get the plug ins sorted. We can upload a vid to the server, but it will always go faster as a YouTube embed. @nicoleleonard, if you create a G+ account for the ECA that comes with its own YouTube channel. We can also use the P2PF's one, although I think that an ECA one makes more sense.

Stacco Troncoso Tue 20 Sep 2016 7:04PM
Just as a short aside. @lucastello et all, great job with the vid! Apart from the ECA site we can also feature it as a standalone videopost in the P2PF blog to give it more diffusion.
Frédéric Sultan Tue 20 Sep 2016 9:43PM
Hi @lucastello
the same for Remix the commons and vecam.org. It 's good !

Nicole Leonard Wed 21 Sep 2016 10:38AM
Youtube channel is created: European Commons Assembly
Video is online with a note saying subtitles are to come... just in case we don't get the translation done in time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqxV0cd27B0
@maiadereva can you integrate it on the site?
And @staccotroncoso can you help with Maia's question about the plugin so we can host the call (essentially a petition..) in a better way and gradually gather signatures?
I think you two should join our media strategy call tomorrow- are you available at all for a call at 11am, 12pm, or 1pm? I will be participating with @annmarie @sophie40 and @lucastello so far (others welcome!)
ann marie Wed 21 Sep 2016 11:33AM
Hi all, in case you didn't see my just-now email response to Nicole - I've got a semi(not painful!) dental emergency, lost part of a tooth or filling so I've made a dentist appointment for noon tomorrow, was the earliest I could get. I can join the call at 11AM and hop off after about 45 minutes, if that helps!

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Wed 21 Sep 2016 2:55PM
@maiadereva @nicoleleonard @staccotroncoso "SpeakOut!" plugin installed and activated - just @tag me if you need anything else!
Maïa Dereva Wed 21 Sep 2016 4:23PM
Hi! :)
I've added the Twitter account and the video into the site.
I'll have a look to the new plugin (thank you @javierarturorodrig !) tomorrow.
About the logo, I'm still waiting for Fanny's proposals, I hope we'll have them soon.
Maïa Dereva Thu 22 Sep 2016 2:23PM
I just asked Fanny (the person who created the french logo). I'll tell you the answer when I receive it.
About the plugin, it seems to have some issues (it has not been tested with this version of worpdress). I'll test other plugins (on one of my sites) and tell you as soon as possible which one could be installed for the assembly.
I added Spanish and French translations in the submenu at the top.

Nicole Leonard Thu 22 Sep 2016 2:32PM
Thanks Maia. Yeah I tried to play with the plugin but couldn't figure how to get it integrated in the page... Thank you!

Nicole Leonard Thu 22 Sep 2016 3:05PM
There's a typo in the call: "These INITIATIVES..." there is an "i" missing, under the subsection "Our experiences of commoning"
Maïa Dereva Thu 22 Sep 2016 3:18PM
Done! :)
Maïa Dereva Thu 22 Sep 2016 4:30PM
I had a look for the petition plugin but I can't find anything correct...
Maybe we should use a platform like https://www.change.org/ and include it in the site?
Maïa Dereva Thu 22 Sep 2016 5:02PM
Info: I'm not available tomorrow (french commons assemblies meeting in Paris). I can help for the site on Saturday and Sunday.

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 7:20AM
Yeah I suppose we can use change.org. I'm at the meeting already so I will see you here! Maybe we can catch a moment to look at it together, it's an important part of what I send to people before Monday.

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 8:04AM
I put it on change.org. There is a way to embed the link in a visually appealing way on our site, and count the number of signatures, but when you click for the full text it will ultimately redirect to change.org, here: https://www.change.org/p/european-commons-assembly-announcing-a-european-commons-assembly-our-call
So are people ok with this? It's a bummer because I was hoping to redirect people to OUR site to sign. Maybe we can keep the full text of the call on our site and then at the bottom say to follow the change.org link...

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 10:13AM
@maiadereva Here is the link to integrate the petition from change.org
Maïa Dereva Fri 23 Sep 2016 12:29PM
It works fine @nicoleleonard !
See : http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-the-call/
Jut have to decide where we put that content : at the end of each version of the call ?

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:09PM
I don't want to use change.org. First, it's a private for profit company. Second, it only allows individuals to sign. :(
https://www.activistfacts.com/organizations/530-change-dot-org/

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:11PM
@javierarturorodrig or @staccotroncoso any insight on how to make the call signing easy and integrated into the website? :/

sophie Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:11PM
what now?

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:40PM
Just spoke to @maiadereva and she thinks she has a solution. It's ok, as long as we make sure to always provide the link to the ECA website with our content there will always be a way to find the call to sign. I'm reposting an email I just sent summarizing our strategy.

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:40PM
There are 2 elements to this strategy. Both need to include the link to sign the Call which will be finished over the weekend.
FIRST ELEMENT = THE CALL: The idea is that, for example, European Alternatives publishes the complete text of the Call on their website, with a link that is still to be determined that I will send out latest very early on Monday morning.
SECOND ELEMENT = press release article with more context called “On the rise: European Commons Assembly” also with the link that is to be determined. This can be 1) circulated to journalists 2) circulated on discussion lists 3) hosted in addition to the call.
Conclusion: European Alternatives can, in addition to publishing the Call on their site, also circulate “On the rise” with the link to their journalists and on their discussion lists.
Nicole

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:59PM
@maiadereva Marta said we can use European Alternatives images.... they have CC licenses. I think Sylvia F also has nice images under CC. We just need one with some nice faces for the website. Can you find one? Here are the links:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/euroalter/
https://www.flickr.com/photos/sylviafredriksson/albums

Stacco Troncoso Fri 23 Sep 2016 4:38PM
Change.org commodifies user information, making it a the type of netarchical platform we so often criticise, so I wouldn't use it for anything with "Commons" in the name.
I'm asking these guys what they used for their call (it allows individuals and organizations) so @javierarturorodrig can insert it in the site. If that fails, there is oiga.me a campaing site much closer to our principles.
Maïa Dereva Fri 23 Sep 2016 7:48PM
Hi @nicoleleonard and all!
I've changed the photo, what do you think? (I tried to choose people that can't be recognized...)
Fanny didn't have time to create a completely new logo, but she worked on the existing one to make it more compact and "professional". If it's OK, I can send the HD one.
Maybe she could propose other very different versions, but not for the 26th...
For the petition, I wait for @staccotroncoso 's answer before trying to develop a form...
Maïa Dereva Fri 23 Sep 2016 7:50PM
Maybe we could also test this tool: https://www.jotform.com/form-templates/form-generator-petition-form

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Sat 24 Sep 2016 11:48AM
@nicoleleonard @maiadereva I hacked something together, please look at it and tell me if it's acceptable.
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-as-individual/

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Sat 24 Sep 2016 12:28PM
Also:
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-as-organisation/ for organisations
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-call/ which has both forms, in tabs
The code for each of these can be copied and included in any other page.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
-J
Maïa Dereva Sat 24 Sep 2016 4:54PM
Great! And very good idea to use the tabs. What do you think @nicoleleonard ?
If you think this solution is OK, I'll add links everywhere it is usefull.
Thanks a lot for the help @javierarturorodrig :)
Maïa Dereva Sat 24 Sep 2016 4:55PM
Where can we find the list of signatories?

sophie Sun 25 Sep 2016 12:18PM
Awesome! @javierarturorodrig
I like the sign call one with both forms.
here is the list of signatories: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Call-European-Commons-Assembly-mQDxWEy9nga

Nicole Leonard Sun 25 Sep 2016 2:09PM
Yes! Fantastic, thank you.... I agree I think the one with both forms is best. Sorry for the delayed response @maiadereva ! I would go ahead and put the links in to make it accessible through the website and *please confirm with me the final link to the page* so that I can circulate it along with the text tomorrow.
Maïa Dereva Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:13PM
Hi @nicoleleonard , the link for signatures is here : http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-call/
I added it in every pages with the call.
For the list, I asked where we can find it "on the site".
It's here :
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/individual-signatures/
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/organisation-signatures/
If you have time, you can add all the previous signatures, maybe using the same e-mail for all of them (as it is a required field). Tell me now if you need help, I'm not available tonight!

Nicole Leonard Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:14PM
Hi @maiadereva I just want to make sure that the signatures show, as that is the point. To see signatories... going to try a test now
Maïa Dereva Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:16PM
It works fine! :)
You can delete the tests in "Contact Form D8" in the admin panel

Nicole Leonard Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:16PM
I feel like the text of the call is too big and it makes it difficult to read the call or see where the link is to sign. The link to sign should be a bit more prominent/would be better if the call were more readable!

Nicole Leonard Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:18PM
Maybe it can also be a drop down option next to "Spanish" (should be español) Français.... and "Sign!"
Does that make sense?

Nicole Leonard Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:20PM
And @javierarturorodrig @staccotroncoso is there a way to put individuals titles alongside e.g. John Smith "Professor at X university"... if it's going to break any links and make stuff complicated now we can leave it but...
Maïa Dereva Sun 25 Sep 2016 3:27PM
So i did the following changes :
- change text of the call size
- change "Sign the call" text size
- add dropboxes for signing
- add the field "Title or function" (not required) for individual signatures
Maïa Dereva Sun 25 Sep 2016 5:11PM
@nicoleleonard : I added all organisations (but not Transform! and Xnet as I couldn't find them on internet).
For the individuals, there is an issue @javierarturorodrig : I added a field in "Contact" form, but I must have missed something else because when the fields are displayed in the list, I see the new field instead "Last name" :(

Stacco Troncoso Sun 25 Sep 2016 6:42PM
Hi @maiadereva great job! Here's the link for x.net. Instead of "Sign Call Here" in the English version it should be "Sign the Call Here" or just "Sign the Call" or "Sign Here".

Stacco Troncoso Sun 25 Sep 2016 6:48PM
Whoopsie, but i'm getting errors when signing. Check this out @maiadereva @javierarturorodrig Can other people check to see if the get similar errors? (Here's where you sign)

Stacco Troncoso Sun 25 Sep 2016 6:48PM
Ok, it went through, but now I appear as "Stacco Mr"!
Maïa Dereva Sun 25 Sep 2016 8:37PM
Yes @staccotroncoso , I added the field "Title or function" but i must have miss something elsewhere. You can sign again now. @nicoleleonard , I deleted this field for the moment and wait for @javierarturorodrig advice...

Nicole Leonard Mon 26 Sep 2016 6:01AM
@maiadereva thanks. Would be good to have link to view signatories also on the signing page, not just the bottom of the main Call text. I'm assuming the URLs are staying stable now so I will circulate the link!
Julien Lecaille Mon 26 Sep 2016 7:10AM
Invalid security certificate ... it's a problem on some heavily-securised computers (like my computer in my townhall office)

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 26 Sep 2016 12:14PM
The certificate was issued by Let's Encrypt and it may not be recognized as legitimate by some (older) browsers. I'll enable CloudFlare tonight if that's an issue.
Also, some images have HTTPS-unfriendly URLs that need to be rewritten before HTTPS works reliably.

sophie Mon 26 Sep 2016 8:20AM
I agree it would be good to have all the signatories on the front page of the website if that's possible. ..

sophie Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:11AM
I realise it might cost quite some time to change the format of how signatories, and have them hyperlinked to their websites etc. But could we make the font larger for now?
also, I noticed. Hugo Mattei is not on there anymore for the individual signatories. (does first name and last name have to come out separated like that? what about countries? )

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:21AM
@maiadereva @nicoleleonard @staccotroncoso I didn't get the messages yesterday but I'm glad it worked out. I'll lurk in Loomio today, or reach me through Telegram/WhatsApp shall you need anything. Cheers!

Stacco Troncoso Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:26AM
So here's an important whoopsie. Check the screenshot: It should say "Sign the call for an European Commons Assembly" NOT "Sign the global call for sharing". Can we get a quick fix, @maiadereva @javierarturorodrig

Stacco Troncoso Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:27AM
It's also present in the "Sign as an organization" tab BTW.

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:29AM
Mea culpa - Sorry, I copied the form from the example site you gave me... _^
Fixed now.

sophie Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:36AM
Hi @javierarturorodrig . could you increase the font size of the signatories? They are very hard to read like this. Thanks!

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 26 Sep 2016 10:36AM
@maiadereva @nicoleleonard @staccotroncoso BTW we should send the form results to a mail address, I put in mine for testing purposes - shall I direct them to contact@europeancommonsassembly.eu or to some other address ?

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 26 Sep 2016 11:35AM
@sophie40 I switched the table's CSS to a non-existent class - the font size is more readable now, but there may be unintended consequences. Please take a look and see if it does indeed work.

sophie Mon 26 Sep 2016 11:43AM
hi yes looks much better, sweet!

sophie Mon 26 Sep 2016 11:43AM
hi yes looks much better, sweet!

Nicole Leonard Tue 27 Sep 2016 6:22AM
The man who got the error notice said it was resolved.
Another question: should I be putting every individual who signs the Call on our commonswatch mailing list? @fredericsultan
Frédéric Sultan Tue 27 Sep 2016 7:59AM
Hi @nicoleleonard, not necessarly, I think It's better to collect emails and send to them some news regularly including an invitation to join the list.

Nicole Leonard Tue 27 Sep 2016 9:39AM
Ok yes- this means we should moderate messages. I will post a proposition that we can vote on.

Nicole Leonard Tue 27 Sep 2016 9:39AM
@maiadereva Where did you get the photo for the website? Was it European Alternatives? Even though they are CC and we can use them we still need to credit the author and the terms of the license. I will see if I can find it but if you could save me some time that would be great.
Maïa Dereva Wed 28 Sep 2016 4:17PM
Hi @nicoleleonard , here is the link to the photo : https://www.flickr.com/photos/euroalter/29303204921/
Maïa Dereva Wed 28 Sep 2016 4:22PM
And I see there is a copyright :(

sophie Wed 28 Sep 2016 5:00PM
I can ask them, pretty sure it's ok. And one of the photographers of that event actually interns with us :)

Nicole Leonard Thu 29 Sep 2016 8:56AM
All sorted. Easy fix no worries- @tillgentzsch was the author!
I'm assuming it's ok Till? How should we credit? @Frederic also circulated it on a French newsletter so he just wants to know what to do.
Till Gentzsch Thu 29 Sep 2016 8:59AM
yes, it's ok. Maybe mention my name somewhere. It's not so important for me with this picuture however

Nicole Leonard Thu 29 Sep 2016 8:58AM
@javierarturorodrig a couple people have emailed me saying they get error messages when trying to sign the call. Have you seen that?
Just FYI everyone I'm out of town for a couple days so will have limited access on Fri., none Mon., and very little until late on Tues. night.
Maïa Dereva Thu 29 Sep 2016 11:17AM
Hi @tillgentzsch , I added your name in the footer :)
Maïa Dereva Thu 29 Sep 2016 11:26AM
About the error messages, it's hard to help if people don't send the exact message and context...
Maïa Dereva Thu 29 Sep 2016 1:52PM
Mail from Ivor Stodolsky :
"I tried to sign up several times, both as an individual and as our organisation, Perpetuum Mobile. I tried it yesterday around midday and again in the evening, but it kept saying something didn't work and that I should 'try again later' in a yellowish box."
@javierarturorodrig : I think the problem for signatures come from the captcha (I had the same issue when entering all the first signatures)
Maïa Dereva Mon 3 Oct 2016 8:47AM
@javierarturorodrig : when you have time, is it possible to add a "Title or function" field in the Individual signature? And maybe "Town" and "Country" in both forms?

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Mon 3 Oct 2016 10:48AM
@maiadereva I just added the new fields. Please check them out and tell me if it works as expected.
Maïa Dereva Mon 3 Oct 2016 1:06PM
Hi @javierarturorodrig :)
Great! I tested the two forms and everything seems to work fine. Thank you.

Nicole Leonard Fri 7 Oct 2016 3:14PM
Can you all tell me if you can see the 5 subgroups on the left sidebar in loomio?
They are: Communications, Coordination, ECA structure and purpose, Invitations, and Policy Proposals.
I want to make sure it's organized and visible/open so participants know where to hold their discussions.
Maïa Dereva Fri 7 Oct 2016 3:30PM
I see only "Communications - external" as a submenu on the left sidebar...
Maybe because I'm not registered to others ?

Nicole Leonard Fri 7 Oct 2016 3:35PM
Frustrating. Yes, I'm sure that's why. I wish there was a way to make the subgroups visible to everyone. Is anyone good at loomio? It's difficult to organize the threads and make them all accessible....

Nicole Leonard Fri 7 Oct 2016 3:42PM
Oh - ok so the sidebar is personalized and shows the subgroups groups that you are part of. So Maia is only in communications, so she sees only communications.
BUT if you go to the homepage, in the bottom right of the screen there is a box that shows the different subgroups. Do you see this box with the five subgroups? It's not intuitive at all....
Maïa Dereva Fri 7 Oct 2016 4:01PM
Yes I can see the box, but you're right, it's the first time I see it because you told me it exists! :)

Nicole Leonard Fri 7 Oct 2016 4:10PM
Ok, I guess on the group description I just need to make it more clear that there are subgrups. Thanks.

Nicole Leonard Wed 12 Oct 2016 7:02AM
@stacco @javierarturorodrig @annmarie
A couple things. 1. Did stacco leave loomio? I can't tag him anymore.
2. I keep getting an error message and I hope it's not a big issue: Bounce rate in list eca.contact is 33.3.
You should delete bouncing subscribers:
/reviewbouncing/
ann marie Wed 12 Oct 2016 4:18PM
@nicoleleonard Hi - not sure if he left this group for some reason but he certainly hasn't left Loomio altogether! I'm also trying to tag him here and it's not working. I'll ask him directly. FYI, we're in a 2-week intensive work "summit", meaning we're a bit stretched but let me ask him what is happening.
ann marie Wed 12 Oct 2016 4:20PM
OK - looks like he got accidentally kicked out of all the groups. I've added him back here...

Nicole Leonard Fri 14 Oct 2016 11:31AM
@staccotroncoso @javierarturorodrig @maiadereva
Please, we need a change to the website so I can add logistical info about the event.
"Save the Date" (a subsection) should be changed to "First Meeting in Brussels", and appear higher, before "Process". Then there should be a drop down, like there is for the Call, with 3 pages. 1. Program (it's a PDF, attached here!) 2. Travel and Accommodation 3. Policy Proposal Co-Creation. I will send the content for 2. and 3. by Monday, maybe earlier.
Make sense? Thank you!
Maïa Dereva Fri 14 Oct 2016 1:45PM
Hi @nicoleleonard ! The pages were created, the menu is modifed and the home page was changed too. Waiting for further contents :)

Nicole Leonard Fri 14 Oct 2016 4:34PM
Thank you Maia! Is there a way to also make the Program PDF downloadable? That way people can download it too and circulate it to their colleagues by email.
Maïa Dereva Fri 14 Oct 2016 9:16PM
Done! :rabbit:

Nicole Leonard Sun 16 Oct 2016 10:28AM
Thank you Maia, final thing: a revision of the blurb that we already have that introduces the meeting (which was originally "Save the Date"). It should be replaced with a text I will send in 5-10min

Nicole Leonard Sun 16 Oct 2016 10:42AM
15 min... not bad! Here it is. @fredericsultan
Maïa Dereva Sun 16 Oct 2016 11:14AM
OK @nicoleleonard , the homepage is edited!

Nicole Leonard Sun 16 Oct 2016 11:56AM
Ah! Important point to add so there is no confusion.
On the top of the Travel page:
To be reimbursed, you need to have received an Invitation from the Coordination Committee and confirmed your attendance with them. Space is unfortunately limited and we do not have the resources to invite everyone. Get in touch with contact@europeancommonsassembly.eu for more info. You will NOT be reimbursed if you make travel arrangements without receiving an invitation.
Maïa Dereva Sun 16 Oct 2016 12:09PM
Done!

Nicole Leonard Mon 17 Oct 2016 9:51AM
Just to let people know there will be a Communications Team Call this week. This is an important part of the "ECA Sprint" for the last 4 weeks before the event. The Comms team did a nice job for the joint publication on September 26, but we've slowed down a bit since...please join the call so we can set some more tasks. Also I add the comms team calendar for some ideas: https://framadate.org/Jg5BFD2Ul2CDpSr5

Nicole Leonard Mon 17 Oct 2016 9:51AM

Stacco Troncoso Wed 26 Oct 2016 2:09PM
@maiadereva and I have created a sidebar widget. Right now the text is prompting the policy co-creation aspect, but it can be tweaked to communicate other things. Check it out here or in any P2PF and Commons Transition blog post. I'm attaching the original and resized file in case people want to make something similar for other websites.
Maïa Dereva Wed 26 Oct 2016 2:40PM
I added the sidebar widget on the French blog too. I can modify too the text and the URL if asked.

Nicole Leonard Thu 27 Oct 2016 6:40AM
OK - I need to update the text on the website about the policy proposal co-creation because it’s out of date now. Look or that later tday.

Nicole Leonard Wed 2 Nov 2016 11:54AM
Hi @maiadereva . We need to get the logos of the supporting foundations on the website somewhere, maybe at the bottom as a permanent anchor? Here they are:
Maïa Dereva Wed 2 Nov 2016 1:21PM
Hi @nicoleleonard , the 3 logos have been added in the footer

Nicole Leonard Thu 3 Nov 2016 12:38PM
Hi @maiadereva thanks as usual for all your help. We need a bold note at the top of the travel page replacing the "you need to have received an invitation" bit saying that "Registration has ended for the event in Parliament on November 16 and the capacity is full. Neither travel nor accommodation reimbursement is available for those that did not register. It is still possible to attend the sessions outside of Parliament over the 3 days if you can cover your own costs. Keep in mind the EP session on the 16th will be webstreamed in English, French, and Italian."
Maïa Dereva Thu 3 Nov 2016 1:38PM
With pleasure @nicoleleonard :smiley_cat:
The text has been replaced.

Nicole Leonard Fri 4 Nov 2016 2:36PM
@maiadereva can you add another option on the drop down for First Meeting in Brussels (can be the last one of the 4) that says "Program – Nov. 16 PM"
and then add this pdf
merci

Nicole Leonard Fri 4 Nov 2016 2:36PM
feel free to rename it to somethign catchier if you feel inspired
Maïa Dereva Fri 4 Nov 2016 6:47PM
Hi @nicoleleonard , the page has been added (I didn't feel very inspired  )
http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/program-november-the-16th-afternoon/

Nicole Leonard Thu 10 Nov 2016 6:14PM
hey Maia, Can you replace the old original program (NOT the recent one on the afternoon of the 16th) with this Final Version? It can be called "Full Program".

Nicole Leonard Fri 11 Nov 2016 7:45AM
@maiadereva can you add the program described above? There's no way to link immediately to a pdf is there? It's a lot of information that might be hard to translate to the wordpress format.... It would be great if we can jsut keep it as a pdf
Maïa Dereva Fri 11 Nov 2016 12:47PM
Hi @nicoleleonard , I've already updated the Program page: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/first-meeting-november-15-to-17-2016-in-brussels-program/
and the new PDF is available here: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Final-Program-ECA.pdf%22

https://blog.p2pfoundation.net/european-commons-assembly-debuts-brussels/2016/11/15
Maïa Dereva Tue 15 Nov 2016 11:52AM
I didn't know where to put them in the ECA website so I created a new page : http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/videos/

Nicole Leonard Tue 22 Nov 2016 2:15PM
Hey @maiadereva we are looking for a way to gather all the links to articles, photos etc. that people are posting on the assembly so it can all be in one place. What is the best format for this?
Maïa Dereva Tue 22 Nov 2016 5:01PM
Hi @nicoleleonard !
Maybe a wiki could be more collaborative than the website?
If people are OK with the idea, we could start with using the existing French wiki (of course we could modify its name to "european" and use another URL, just tell me, I can speak about that to the assembly of the commons of Lille on oct. 24th)
http://assemblee.encommuns.org/wiki/Accueil

Javier Arturo Rodriguez Tue 22 Nov 2016 6:36PM
Would it be cleaner to create a new wiki under the ECA domain?
Cheers,
-Javier Arturo Rodríguez
Maïa Dereva Tue 22 Nov 2016 10:23PM
Cleaner I don't know, but a pity to create another and another tool to maintain, maybe... If you create one, be sure we'll ask to import our French contents in yours...

Stacco Troncoso Wed 23 Nov 2016 4:55AM
We already have ECA content in the RtC wiki and we have something special planned for the Commons Transition wiki so another wiki, at this point is not only redundant but potentially very confusing for contributors. I strongly caution against it.
Frédéric Sultan Wed 23 Nov 2016 7:56AM
I agree with Stacco. At this time, what we need is a process of publication in the website that allow us to collect and share the harvest of the encounter of Bruxelles (before/during/after). It should be like a press revue. The more accessible to public is the best. Why not to use the blog for that ? Could-it be done by using a category "Brussels 2016" or the tool "project" already included in the blog ?

Nicole Leonard Wed 23 Nov 2016 12:36PM
just to clarify: blog = eca website europeancommonsassembly.eu

Nicole Leonard Thu 24 Nov 2016 12:38PM
Hi Maia. Big update: We want to update the introductory text on the First Meeting in Brussels that starts with “From the 15th to the 17th of November.....” and replace it with a quick recap of the event. We can leave the bits on Travel and Policy Proposals for now though hopefully we can update those next week. Maybe you can embed the video? And leave the loomio and list links please (at the end). I am an attaching an odt file I have to run now - there are some images in it that I can't seem to rotate I also add them separately.
Here is the new text:
The First Meeting of the European Commons Assembly took place in Brussels from November 15 to 17. Roughly 150 diverse commons activists from 21 countries across Europe participated in this historic event.
Building on collective work on policy proposals in the preceding weeks, on November 16 we came together in Parliament for a 3.5 hour session exploring the ECA as a platform and the commons as a powerful paradigm for policymaking.* You can see the full recording here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEWDstHb8Bg.
Before and after the event in Parliament, on the 15th and 17th, ECA participants gathered at Zinneke collective, based in an old stamp factory that has been reclaimed by local citizens as a creative hub for Brussels. There we explored political issues, through an open discussion on DIEM 25 and a collective meeting on how to move forward with the European Commons Assembly into the future.
Documentation from the event continues to be released and the conversation continues on our mailing list and loomio spaces. Please sign up in these spaces to join the movement.
For a complete recap of the First Meeting, read this article from Commons Network: http://commonsnetwork.eu/commoners-hit-the-capital-of-europe-commons-assembly-in-brussels/
*Thanks to the MEPs who co-hosted us from the Working Group on Common Goods, within the Intergroup on Common Goods and Public Services: Marisa Matias (GUE/NGL), Dario Tamburrano (EFDD), Ernest Urtasun (Greens/EFA), and Sergio Cofferati (S&D). Thanks also to Julia Reda, Monika Vana (Greens/EFA) and Ignazio Corrao (EFDD) who collaborated.

Nicole Leonard Fri 25 Nov 2016 10:47AM
here's the odt file

Nicole Leonard Fri 25 Nov 2016 10:48AM
@maiadereva here's a big update (above)! I'll be online today and will probably have another update later
Maïa Dereva Fri 25 Nov 2016 1:28PM
Hi @nicoleleonard !
I'll do that as soon as possible (but unfortunately probably not today)..
Maybe it's a good idea to discuss about the fact I a am the only one to be able to update the site? Maybe the technical choice (Divi theme) is not good?

Nicole Leonard Fri 25 Nov 2016 1:30PM
Yes that's true, I should talk with @staccotroncoso and others...

Stacco Troncoso Tue 29 Nov 2016 2:40PM
This is how we can summarize this.
- 1) The site should be easily accesible and updatable by all team players (not just the P2PF team and, in particular, @maiadereva)
- 2) the current theme makes updates difficult.
- 3) a wordpress theme would lower the barrier to entry and encourage collaboration
- 4) Is there a fast way to "transfer" the site to a WP backend with minimal design tweaks?
So, while I'd vouch for a Wordpress backend to allay points 1-3, it's point 4 that's the kicker here. I will not be available for additional tasks until the new year and I can't speak for Maïa's and @javierarturorodrig's availability. What do you think guys? I don't have the tech savvyness to evaluate how much work such a transition would take. Other options are for Javier to also insert content in the site as it is. Something else we could do while staying with the current theme is to invite other players from the consortium to help update it (we'd need to profile the kind of person we're looking for). A quick shoutout in the mailing list could be enough, provided we're clear on the tech needs.

Nicole Leonard Wed 30 Nov 2016 3:49PM
I also don't have the tech savyness to evaluate a transition. @maiadereva not a big deal to not have the video embedded, the link to it is fine! Maia do you have an idea for an alternative to the Divi theme? I think we should wait for @javierarturorodrig 's feedback and then maybe we can call out for a Wordpress guru on the list if we're still stuck...
Maïa Dereva Fri 25 Nov 2016 1:48PM
Yes, the actual site was supposed to be a draft (and did the job! :) ), but maybe it's time to verify the needs (technical, graphical, etc...)
Maïa Dereva Sun 27 Nov 2016 9:57AM
Hi @nicoleleonard
The site is updated. I don't know why, but the video couldn't be embeded (there is no thumbnail)

Nicole Leonard Sun 27 Nov 2016 12:24PM
Thanks, there is one mistake. In the description, where it is describing Zinneke, it is important to say "the non-profit organization" instead of "local citizens"
We should set up a time with @staccotroncoso @javierarturorodrig and whoever wants to join about "re-doing the website" in the upcoming weeks..
Frédéric Sultan Sun 27 Nov 2016 2:11PM
Thanks for the updates @nicoleleonard and @maiadereva .
@maiadereva, what do you mean by video couldn't be embeded ?
Maïa Dereva Sun 27 Nov 2016 2:40PM
Hi @fredericsultan , if I embed the video, it has a very ugly face (there is no thumbnail)
The mistake is updated Nicole
I have to say that even for an experienced webmaster like me, the interface of the Divi theme is not at all practical! It would be important, I think, to install something else to facilitate updates by as many people as possible.

Nicole Leonard Fri 2 Dec 2016 3:40PM
Sorry Maia, last request: Can you create a new Heading on "How to Participate" with this information? Take your time and thank you!
Maïa Dereva Fri 2 Dec 2016 4:45PM
Hi @nicoleleonard
I added the page as a submenu of "Process".
@staccotroncoso : About the "transfer" of the site: there are 18 pages, so it's not a big deal to transfer them in a new more open theme (maybe 2 or 3 hours).
But I don't know which theme to choose. It depends on the needs, and we don't know them exactly.
Nicole, could you show us some sites you think the ECA website should be like?
BTW, I don't have the technical rights to change the theme, we have to wait for @javierarturorodrig

Nicole Leonard Wed 25 Jan 2017 1:49PM
@cecileblanchet this is the thread for website updates

Cecile Blanchet Wed 25 Jan 2017 9:28PM
Thanks @nicoleleonard !
@maiadereva , I will list here the modifications of the website. Let me know if something is unclear.
1) Menu: process
- remove Travel and Accommodation instructions (out of date)
- remove the Policy Proposal Co-creation instructions (out of date)
2) Menu: videos
page videos: that is where the videos will come on Wednesday, Feb. 01. Either keep it as a list or make a gallery.
3) landing page (home)
- Remove title "Announcing: A eurpoean commons assembly"
- cut from "our call" to "Omnia sunt communia" and copy to a new page (create a new page) in the menu item "call for a european commons assembly", called "our call".
- remove the part "sign the call"
- cut the part on the first meeting in brussels and paste it on a new page corresponding to the menu item with the same name in "process". (create a new page)
- remove the part "background and process", including the video, but keep the part "European commons assembly: A coalition...", which will accompany the video of introduction to the ECA, which will come here. It should be as big as the video which is presently on the page.
- perhaps put links to the other videos under it.
The week after, the food video will come above it, and the week after the city video above and so forth so that people can eventually scroll through the videos and accompanying text + links.
@maiadereva : I am not sure if I am clear here (am a bit tired), but we can definitely skype and discuss it if you want in the coming days (not very easy, but we can surely find a moment).
Best and many thanks in advance!
Cecile

Cecile Blanchet Thu 26 Jan 2017 8:32PM
Salut @maiadereva ! Directly from the discussion on the other loomio thread (Outreach communication), there are a few more modifications and additions to the website. People suggested to put a FlickR gallery on the landing page and I proposed to put it as well on the page "First meeting in Brussels" (to be created). Apparently that's something that @staccotroncoso can help with (or am I wrong?).
Another thing is to put a link to the ECA bundle on the P2P foundation website, but I still don't know where. Once again, I understood that @staccotroncoso would give more indications.
Merci et bonne soiree a toi !
Maïa Dereva Thu 26 Jan 2017 8:37PM
Hi @cecileblanchet : i did all the updates, tell me if I understood well :)
We have a "sandbox website" here for creating the new one: http://betablog.europeancommonsassembly.eu/
(same login/pwd)
I agree, we need @staccotroncoso explanations/help for other updates.

Cecile Blanchet Thu 26 Jan 2017 9:02PM
Genial @maiadereva ! C'est presque tout bon :)
The only thing, but I was probably not very clear, would be to transfer the infos and picts about the First meeting in Brussels (which are now accessed when you click on "process") to the sub-menu title "First meeting in Brussels". Si je ne me trompe pas, il s'agit juste de re-attribuer la page que tu as creee au sous-menu "First meeting in Brussels" a la place du menu "process" (ou ce sera plus difficile a trouver me semble t'il).
Sinon super, vraiment ! Merci beaucoup.
Next steps will be to put the new stuff on the website next Wednesday. Will you be available @maiadereva ?
I will prepare the material for the front page and have it ready by next Monday.
Talk to you soon!

Nicole Leonard Fri 27 Jan 2017 11:24AM
Yes.. I also think it might make sense to change the name "Process", it's a bit vague. It could be "Activities" for example. But we will see this after the Media Splash next week :)

Nicole Leonard Fri 27 Jan 2017 11:34AM
By sandbox, do you mean there's a new theme working? Eventually we will switch to this one?
Maïa Dereva Thu 26 Jan 2017 11:18PM
OK @cecileblanchet , I check that tomorrow.
About the articles here: https://blog.p2pfoundation.net/author/european-commons-assembly
I think it would be better if we copy/paste them in the new ECA website and complete them after with new articles. It seems to me that it would be clearer in terms of communication not to go out from the ECA site to read news about ECA (even if the articles can be displayed elsewhere of course).
Maïa Dereva Thu 26 Jan 2017 11:20PM
And yes, I should be available on Wednesday! :)

Cecile Blanchet Fri 27 Jan 2017 10:26AM
That's a good point @maiadereva for the articles. Perhaps we can plan another menu ("news"?) item to click on and get all these articles on a new page? Or a way to advertise them om the home page and then store them on a this "news" page. But anyways, we should have a look at that after our comm event of next week, no?
Excellent that you are available on Wednesday, super ! In the meantime, I'll make a sketch for how to put the material online next Wednesday and I'll post it here so that everyone can comment on it. I'll do that tonight or in the week-end.
Cheers!
Maïa Dereva Fri 27 Jan 2017 12:57PM
@nicoleleonard : there's not yet any other useful theme installed. I think we should see that with @annmarie @staccotroncoso and/or @javierarturorodrig to chose a new theme?

Nicole Leonard Fri 27 Jan 2017 1:50PM
ok, but now I understand: that's where we will be building the new site from. So yes, no need to integrate news into the old one.
Maïa Dereva Fri 27 Jan 2017 1:02PM
@cecileblanchet : about the "news" section, I agree. But maybe we should wait and see to explore how to integrate them in the future new site?

Stacco Troncoso Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:31AM
Hi gang. Regarding the new website, etc, I propose waiting until next week after we've done the initial media outreach to see how to best approach it. Does that work for everyone?

Cecile Blanchet Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:08PM
Hi all (especially @maiadereva @nicoleleonard @staccotroncoso): these are my propositions for inserting the material of our media splash on the website on Wednesday. It's a pdf that I made in illustrator, so editable for those using illustrator. Otherwise just add comments in the pdf (using the comment tools). If someone has a suggestion for an editable web tool, happy to transfer the sketch there!
Best, Cecile

Cecile Blanchet Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:11PM
here is the pdf...

Nicole Leonard Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:32PM
Taking a look now. Should we also decide a time on wednesday? 10am? noon? Or does it not really matter? A few people have been asking.

Nicole Leonard Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:37PM
Just noting this down before I forget: I think for Feb 1 it would be better to replace the buttons with thumbnails of the videos if possible, to make it clear that there is more than just the 1 video. We want to make sure all the content is really accessible. Other than that, all good! (Sorry, my pdf editor comment feature is really annoying).

Cecile Blanchet Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:35PM
Hi Nicole: concerning the time, I have proposed a process here: https://www.loomio.org/d/ZLHgDt3c/outreach-communications
Talk to you later!

Hi @maiadereva : J'espere que tu vas bien et que tu as autant de soleil qu'ici a Berlin (ca fait du bien !). Would you be able to put the video "right to the city" on the website this morning ? In this Hackpad, you will find: the text to go with the video and a link to the video. We will still add some links if people want to know more. Merci d'avance !

Tu es plus rapide que l'eclair ! C'est super, juste 2-3 petits trucs: le titre devrait etre "Urban commons in Europe" instead of "the Food Commons in Europe". I will add a few links below the text, if you could add them it would be great. I'll post them here as well to make it easier for you. Merci Maïa !

So, now that the communication strategy is over we should start seriously considering if we want to redesign the website. Can we "relaunch" this conversation? Because I foresee a series of new additions coming over the upcoming months, and if we are going to start adding content we should be clear now if we will be using the old website or the new one.
I believe @maiadereva began a sort of draft of the new site that we can work with, right?

Hi @maiadereva Can you add this to the website?
ECA in Athens at UniverSSE Congress
As part of the 4th Social and Solidarity Economy Congress June 9-11, the European Commons Assembly would like to invite those who will be in Athens to two sessions. You can also participate now, before the event itself, by contributing your opinions and examples on the hackpads below.
If you plan to attend and want to receive more information, fill the form: https://goo.gl/forms/Sqk2xhLZ4M7R8EZ92
- Open Assembly: “What Economy for the Commons?” - Exploring convergence between SSE and commons (Saturday June 10, 12:15pm to 2:15pm)
We will hold a 2-hour session with a short framing and then open discussion to explore our mutual understanding of how the commons and social and solidarity economy relate to each other. It is also an opportunity to discover the European Commons Assembly (ECA), make new introductions, and connect with local commoners.
There are a variety of views on the relationship between the Social and Solidarity Economy and commons. Some see the two as vitally complementary, while others are more hesitant. Where specifically are there points of convergence, and what aspects are crucial for the commons? Where do they diverge? How are these two movements growing together?
Hackpad: In order to frame this debate, we encourage you to share views on this subject in the hackpad - there are already some opinions there. There is also a space for links to resources that you wish to share: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Assembly-ECA-in-Athens-1-a0HyLHMNMqN#:h=Participants-
- Workshop: European policy for SSE and Commons (Sunday June 11, 10:00am to 12:00pm)
After the Assembly (ECA in Athens 1), we focus on developing policy for the commons and SEE. The rationale for this is laid out in the ECA's SSE proposal Commons Social and Solidarity Economy.
This proposal was the outcome of a collaboration of members of the Assembly in the lead-up to our first meeting in Brussels at the European Parliament. The civil society movement(s) for the commons and SSE need to continue to develop methods and content for interacting with the public institutions. One of the ways the ECA proposes to do this is to focus on production of knowledge, via the sharing of tools and strategies that can be relevant for this interaction with policy institutions. In this workshop, we will explore some of these strategies. We also use it to collect concrete proposals for the next Forum for the Social and Solidarity Economy in Brussels at the EP.

Hi Maia, can you also post the info for the "ECA at Fearless Cities Barcelona":
Side event @Fearless Cities
Urban Commons and citizen-led politics on the city level: a place of convergence?
Barcelona en Comú Offices, c/ Marina 133, Barcelona
June 9, 16:00
This side event is a combined proposal by representatives of the European Commons Assembly (ECA) and the organizers of Transeuropa Festival, which will take place in Madrid end of October (25th to 29th) 2017. The convenors are currently planning a collaboration in that context and invite you to be active part of framing and debating on the multiple relationships between urban commons, innovations and citizens’ protagonism on city level. What examples do we witness in urban contexts around Europe, that should be part of such an open exchange in Madrid? Which cities have transformed politics to re-invent and to re-enact democracy from below, experiencing concrete projects able to inspire new ways of social cooperation around commons, thus also preventing the threat of far-right growth? What are the problems and successes of these initiatives, which tools and strategies have been developed in response, and what do they teach us about supporting and scaling commons?
We want to invite everyone interested at this side-event as a moment of a process in which, starting from Fearless Cities meeting, the Madrid event could be one of the next steps in exchanging, discussing, socialising and wide-spreading real alternatives to current “state of affairs” in Europe.
With Stacco Troncoso, Ana Méndez de Andés, Giuseppe Caccia, Marcelo Exposito, Daphne Büllesbach
Please indicate you will be attending here: https://goo.gl/forms/qkzkCQtMxuaQshn02
Simultaneous translation is not available, but people are welcome to participate in the language they’re most comfortable in.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to vote. A couple points:
1) Can you share the login credentials? Now I can't get in to the chat
2) We have had someone else create a chat room, it's difficult getting people to use the tools (loomio is already a challenge for most people), so my only worry is that creating too many tools just makes everything more difficult... but I would like to take a look!
Thanks

Hey ! Well, if nobody uses for now it's not a big deal. It would be better though to communicate between us, but you can't force people (aaaaaah slavery... :) ) ;) .
It's just, it's better to use the chat of commons cause there's already people in there, and well, it was made for commons, I mean, well, it's for us :D
So if we take the decision now to use the chat of the commons as a chat tool, in the future if we use a chat, the work will already be done and we won't need to migrate everyone into another chat.
I hope I was clear :) .
New question : do you know what wiki do you use ?

@maiadereva
Can you please add another activity,"ECA in Madrid (October 25-27, 2017)"
In Madrid, we continue to build the ECA as a trans-local European coalition for solidarity in commoning. We will focus on themes relating to the urban commons through visits, workshops, and activities with local groups in Madrid, and feature joint programming with the Transeuropa Festival (October 25-29, 2017).
Why Madrid?
Madrid is a city where the discourse and practice of the commons is very present on the ground. Bringing activists and commoners from across Europe to Madrid will expose them to this rich context while amplifying the experiences and lessons learned there. Across Europe, many bottom-up commons initiatives are grappling with how to interact with the political sphere. In cities like Madrid, there is an important degree of sympathy with grassroots citizen initiatives. As in 5 other major Spanish cities led by political majorities with strong citizen platforms, Madrid's local government has been run by Ahora Madrid for the last 2 years. Debates about new forms of city governance and local alternatives to centralized policy making are being considered in Madrid and by transnational citizen networks like the Commons Assembly.
Madrid is a logical place to meet to reflect on both the motivating and disappointing experiences between the commons and local politics. It also allows us to open the Assembly to a wider participation, through collaboration with Transeuropa Festival that will be simultaneously held in Madrid. Transeuropa is a political, cultural and artistic event that will examine Europe as a territory for experimentation with commons. It will be cross-sectorial, including a wide range of actors from civil society to city government, from journalists to artists and urban gardeners to scientists.
Progamming
The point of departure for ECA programming will be local urban commons initiatives. This will allow commoners to investigate experiences on a variety of themes relevant to the city, including housing, municipal government relationships, the right to the city, reclaimed or occupied public spaces, water management, and others. Of course, there will be space for ECA members to continue collaborating in the ECA Working Groups, and to discuss issues of governance and the future direction of the ECA.
The main goal is to take this opportunity to learn from local commons experiences in Madrid (and Spain), and see what commonalities these struggles have with others across Europe. It is therefore important that we continue our current trajectory of inviting new actors into the ECA process and working closely with initiatives on the ground. What are the problems and successes of these initiatives? Which tools and strategies have been developed in response, and what do they teach us about supporting and scaling commons? Processes, workshops, and actions will aim to initiate ‘production’, leading to documented and shareable findings, developments, ideas and practices. This will allow us to augment the toolbox of the ECA and continue as a trans-local platform for knowledge, building a European political agenda for the commons.
Working together
To that end, ECA members have found a main partner, MediaLabPrado, to be the physical host for activities. Their Laboratorio de Procomun has been very active in commons workshops and hackathons, facilitating the development and spread of commons ideas and practice. In addition, a group meeting was convened in May with various local commons initiatives that will participate in the ECA process. Others (so far) include: Fundacion de las Communes, Goteo, Traficantes de Suenos , Intermediae (Matadero), Campo de Cebada, Ahora Madrid, and more.
Finally, with Transeuropa, the ECA will host an open panel and discussion entitled: “Urban Commons and citizen-led politics on the city level: a place of convergence?” as an official side event at the Fearless Cities conference of Barcelona en Comú on June 9, 2017. This is a way to continue the process of inclusion and develop the urban commons agenda along with municipalist social movements, in Spain and across Europe. It is a key part of preparing the work to be done during the October Assembly in Madrid.
How to participate
At the event, we aim to convene thematic groups, each with a mix of local Madrid commoners and other commoners from around Europe on a certain urban common theme (e.g. health in the city, public space, housing, etc). From here we can investigate and see what we learn from the local initiative and what it has in common (or not) with similar urban commons projects around Europe.
If you are interested to share a local experience from Madrid and participate in the preparation of a session, please get in touch as soon as possible and we can have a conversation to share ideas. You can also contact us even if you’re not from Madrid but still interested to participate in preparation around a specific theme of urban commons.
For more information, please contact Nicole Leonard nicole.leonard@sciencespo.fr and see http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/how-to-participate/

@lassegullvagsaetre Would it be fine for you to pass on the chat of commons for the Assembly ?

Nicole Leonard Thu 13 Jul 2017 12:11PM
Hey @maiadereva
So, there is another message on ECA Madrid that needs to go on the website for now.
There may well be other bits of information, so it may make sense to create a whole tab dedicated to ECA Madrid: with an Overview (the document that exists now); Instructions (about to post, below); Travel Policy (eventually, in the coming weeks...).
"How to participate in ECA Madrid":
Several ECA thematic workshops will be organized during the assembly between 25-27 October 2017 under the general topic of the urban commons. In order to anchor these workshops in the local reality and experiences, each one will be developed by its participants in collaboration with a local group carrying on initiatives and actions on the specific topic.
Several urban commons themes have been identified so far: Public spaces/urbanism, Refugees and migrants, Participation of citizens to urban policies, Culture, Food, Housing, Health, Currencies and finances of the commons, Laws and legal mechanisms that prevent commons, and Technology for citizens.
For logistical reasons, we may not be able to accommodate every theme proposed, but the Coordination team will review your input to decide the best way to structure the groups. Please, if you wish to join this Coordination Team for ECA Madrid and help in the ongoing planning, please write personally to Nicole Leonard (nicole.leonard@sciencespo.fr).
Expectations and next steps
In order to organize the working groups for each thematic workshop, we are introducing a Participation Form (link below) to gather information on urban commoners and their initiatives. If you intend to participate in the Assembly in Madrid, please fill out this form by July 20. This information will help the coordinators group together participants to the workshops around themes. It is a way to ensure meaningful collaboration for the ECA.
For each working group, there will be:
Collaborative work beforehand to design the workshop itself (together with professional facilitation – not identified yet)
A coordinator identified to follow activities and feedback to the organizing team of the ECA in Madrid
Identification and contacting of corresponding local Spanish groups (an on-going process by participants and the organizers of the ECA in Madrid)
Participation to the workshop in Madrid (together with professional facilitation – not identified yet)
Production of final documentation – format to be determined (leaflet of policy proposals, cards of initiatives, video, etc.) that will allow sharing among the larger network of the ECA members, with policy makers and the general public about the experiences presented and discussed at the workshop and possible recommendations. This will be done with the support of a documentation team/professionals that will help us, provided we find the financing.
The link to the form follows. Please feel free to share this email with individuals you think would be willing to participate.
Participate in ECA Madrid: https://goo.gl/forms/9vID21eSIojQsffk1
Once the composition of the workshops is determined we will share the responses within the groups so that they can get in touch to discuss content and objectives before the meeting – respecting the summer break, of course :)
We will have limited travel grants available. Please fill out the last section of the form if you are in need of such a grant so we can assess the needs.

We're finally ready to put the descriptions for workshops online. Here they are, in attachment. It should be a subsection of the ECA Madrid tab: "Overview of Thematic Working Groups"
Maïa Dereva Tue 5 Sep 2017 2:03PM
Hi @nicoleleonard
Yeah! 3 months on the road, it was great! :)
The new page is online here: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/overview-of-thematic-working-groups/

Nicole Leonard Wed 6 Sep 2017 1:05PM
@maiadereva I can't believe we haven't done this yet, but I think it's important to have a tab on the website called "About the ECA". It can include the current "Videos" page, "Working Principles" and the "How to Participate in the ECA" (both currenly under Activities tab) as drop down options. The main page can include a short text explaining the ECA's goals and also
this great link to all our other content: https://blog.p2pfoundation.net/author/european-commons-assembly
Here is the text I propose:
Many people are engaged in commons-based alternative practices as part of the struggle for ecological, social and cultural transition within their communities. In these fields, the commons approach offers a new vocabulary for collective action and social justice. It opens up ways of reshaping processes for governance of resources by communities themselves. Commons-based practices respect values of sharing and cooperation, equity and diversity, transparency and sustainability.
In November 2016, a group of 150 commoners from all over Europe gathered in Brussels to lay the foundations for a united and strong European commons movement. The European Commons Assembly was born.
The European Commons Assembly is an ongoing process that facilitates pluralistic debate regarding the strategy and agenda for a united political vision. Its goal is threefold: 1) support the decentralised activities of commoners and their engagement in concrete, collaborative and bottom-up actions 2) give a voice to and increase the visibility of the commons movement 3) channel the needs and demands of socially and ecologically sustainable initiatives to the political arena.

Great, thank you! 2 things- the different tabs display a bit weird now; there is some overlap with the ECA logo.
Also, we can delete the page "How to Participate in ECA Madrid"; we can just keep the description of the workshops. It would be cool to add this image too

I tried a left menu, what do you think?
And I added a submenu "Program Overview"

I really prefer the left Menu! It looks cleaner I think. For the pogram overview the graphic is just a little too big. Any way to make it smaller? Same for the working group descriptions too.. can we shrink the text? Thank you :)
Maïa Dereva Thu 7 Sep 2017 3:14PM
OK, the graphic is smaller, and I tried 2 columns for the text. WDYT?

Hi @maiadereva Can you get this updated program on the website? It's made for printing so displays a bit weird; maybe you could play around with it? If not, it's fine to just upload it. People need this information asap. Thanks :)

You can take down the old program too.

Hi @nicoleleonard , I have to catch a train soon so I just put the program here: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/eca-in-madrid-program-overview/
Let me know if it's the right page, if we let the picture or not. I will have a look later, as soon as I can.

Hi Maia. It's ok but it would be better if it is more visible. Can you put it on the homepage of the ECA website as well so people can find it easily? thanks

Hi @nicoleleonard , it's done!

Currently a new discussion is starting about the usage of Loomio, clarity in the amount of groups and threads, a new discussion platform etc. etc. Just mentioning it here. Tim Flitcroft and I picked it up after the Meetup for a Sustainable ECA in Villarceaux. The idea was to at least create temporary clarity and better visualization. I think this action belongs to be mentioned in this group?

Hi @amandajansen , let me know if a new tool is adopted, I'll join it.
