Loomio

Collapsing "decision area" when not used

Loomio is a great tool for making decisions but a lot of threads are simply used in a "forum style". In fact, many of the feature ideas that are discussed here try to get some board features into loomio (pinning threads, tagging, karma systems, etc.). Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't have been easier to adapt (by forking) some existing open source forum software :)

Anyway, when there is no decision to make, the discussion area could be bigger, occupying all the width of the screen.

Heh, we had the same thought about re-using forum software occasionally with Econsensus. We bodged it by creating "discussions" as a separate concept to "proposals", both with their own space for lots of chat. Prefer the way you implement it, and I agree that having more room would be useful. Or being able to toggle the decision area.

Good stuff, thanks for the thoughts @luisescamilla - I'm currently working on some designs for the upcoming interface overhaul. Stay tuned for a more comprehensive update, but for now, here's a sneak peek of a one-column discussion page.

Looks beautiful @richarddbartlett !

You could also consider a fold-away-design like this. (Less scrolling and more space for position statements etc.) Maybe integrated with swiping for mobile devices.
