Important Feedback for Nest 2022

PP Paul Phare Public Seen by 130

We have three important questions for you and would appreciate your feedback before tickets go on sale in January.

Should we expand the event beyond the usual 500 attendees? Closed Fri 11 Feb 2022 6:01PM

Burning Nest has always restricted numbers to 500 people, which makes licensing the event easier. The site has capacity for more, but the increase will mean additional security and closer scrutiny by the local authority. There bring with them additonal costs which mean we would need at least another few hundred attendess to cover the cost. Please tell us whether you think we should expand the event and leave any comments you might have

To avoid the scrutiny, to not have to significantly increase the size to afford the extra measures.

If the team thinks sufficient memberships will be sold to cover the extra costs, then the more the merrier :)

Originally (bc aka before covid) the plan was to do one more year with 500 and grow, not growing will make a lot of disappointed people, it s true butit will allow the org a certain ease with 2022 .... also covid is not reallt done so keeping it at 500 seems more manageable.

On the fence about this one. Would be good to have more details on exactly what the proposals would be for expanding; how much extra security? How many minimum extra people to cover the increased cost? I personally would be happy to see the size go up to say 700-800, up to perhaps 1000max at the top end

There are other bigger burns to go to - the size of Nest is what gives it its charm

I would only be saying "no" here because of the state of the worldview around COVID. Cautious enthusiasm may be the best course for Nest this year. Otherwise, I am almost always a more-is-merrier kind of guy who likes to create intimate spaces in the midst of the chaos. However, I personally will most likely NOT be coming this year ... only because of reaction to the virus, not fear of the virus itself. If the gov'ts over there would let me, I would come... so maybe next year. LOVE YOU ALL! #DesankaOn )

After two years with no Nest, and with still some uncertainty for the coming months, let's not overstretch ourselves.

Could there be an option to see how quickly the first wave sells/how much demand is left unfulfilled, and take a decision at that point whether to expand?

Would it be possible to run two 500-person Nests, in subsequent weeks? That would get 1000 people involved, and avoid the complications. It also makes more use of the time invested in build and strike.
