Make Your Own Commons Day?

JD Josh Davis Public Seen by 118

Here's an idea I mentioned to Ryan the other day, that I'd like to get some feedback on from the rest of the group.

What if, instead of declaring one particular day/week as Commons Day and trying to organize around that, we provided tools and encouraged people to create a local Commons Day, on whatever date works for them?

In this scheme, the Commons Day group would be an on-going resource for commoners, whenever they want to draw attention to their local commons issues.

Any thoughts?

I should be OK with the idea of creating a global common week et share our tools and experiences.
(Sorry but I'm french, I cas reed english but not really write it correctly).

Josh, I think that the simultaneity of a single day or week devoted to the commons is what gives it appeal. People will not be as motivated if "any day is commons day." It's the mutual, simultaneous synergies that make it feel bigger and more important than an isolated event. Having said this, there's a need for ongoing resources & guidance to local commons groups....but that's a different proposition.

I tend to agree with David. If there is to be an impact, doing it on one day or week is important (then people feel this is a global event). Of course, that requires more mobilization.
